Dunno if this is appropriate but I'm just really curious

I stumbled upon this thread on another forum early this morning:

My question is: has a situation like this (where bunches of people have ganged up on someone and personally insulted them for pages and pages) ever occurred on this forum? The closest thing I can think of (in my relatively few months here) is when people started making fun of Viator (if it was even that - can't remember the exacts), but that was nowhere close to the level of (not-totally-undeserved ) ridicule the starter of the topic above has had flung at him.

Or do the staff members and Warn button prevent that from ever happening here?
