Character limits, of course. That, and his mother thought that was too weird a name to give a baby, even if in Lunarian it meant "He Who Will Become Master of the BushHags". And we all know BushHags are the awesomest creatures in FFIV's universe, so that would have made Golbez doubly awesome.

THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON. Every once in a while, the boy (forgot which is which) cresses in drag and calls himself a girls' name, but since he isn't original, he winds up just switching a few letters. Since he was trained as a ninja-type red mage person, he can change clothes, and move from place to place in the blink of an eye, so it seems there are two twins.
No, the real mystery would be how he can be dead for one role, yet alive for the other. And how can he switch his stats around all the time? (BTW those two are my questions)
