They moved there to escape Cecil, but he still found them.

Why can't you fly over the lava at first and see the airship EXPLODE with heat, and laugh hysterically at Cecil's horrible death before realizing you haven't saved since before you got Rydia, and you start crying softly?

The platform thingy that they step on has a photographic memory and remembers all of the character's items and stats. The overworld also has a memory that's as good as the platform.

Why didn't they let Edge's smoke magic let you escape dungeons?
