Yes, in fact they were all the rage all over the world until Cecil bombed the area. The current trend is postcards from monsters ("I wish I had an ogrish one").
Why oh why does the entire (upper) world only consist of 8 towns and 4 castles?

Because everytime someone tries to found a city outside of the limited designated ones, something destroys it. Look at Damcyan. They built it even though they knew they weren't supposed to, and it had to go. Likewise with Eblan.
Oh, and to clarify, there are 5 castles: Baron, Fabul, Eblan, Damcyan, Toroia.
Why does it mean nothing to Zemus when the man of Darkness uses the Crystal on him?

Zeromus' favorite crystal flavor is Dark. So when man of Darkness uses it, it has no effect. But Cecil taints it to vanilla. And Zeromus HATES vanilla.
Then what flavor does Yang like?

No, we see it in one of the game's beginning scenes. But actually, that was Dark Knight Cecil. It may be that Paladin Cecil does.
What else is different in Paladin Cecil now that is not shown in the game?
