I think being a porn star and being a prostitute is essentially the same. You make money by having sex in both cases, I don't really see a huge difference.

Therefore, how come the pornography industry is perfectly legal while brothels, in many countries, are not?

Because when it's pornography, more than just the people involved in the actual acts benefit.

I believe that because it's filmmaking and considered an actual form of entertainment, it's perfectly legal in some countries.

Sure, it's an "art form", but the acts performed are basically the exact same, just more glorified. Basically they're paid for having sex, just like hookers do.

And I don't think I said making pornography is illegal in as many countries as brothel activity is.

So making porn is legal because the persons performing the sexual acts don't get all the money for themselves? That's often the case in a brothel too.

Of course there not the same, Porn Stars know who there sleeping with, and if they've got any STD's. Hookers know nothing about who there sleeping with and what they've got, and worse, the person dosent know what kind of STD's the hooker may have. With Prostitution, theres a big risk involved, with Porn theres not.

    Dreedz made a valid point.

What if prostitutes were forced to test themselves at regular intervals by law, and keep track of their clients in case one of them got infected or infected them? Sort of making a legal agreement where both parts warrant that they are clean before the service is performed.

If that was the case, do you think brothels should be legal?

It doesn't really matter to me, because I think prostitution should be legal, but there is some difference. But like I said, they should both be legal.

There are similarities between (hardcore) pornography and prostitution, just as there are differences. Many of them have been mentioned in the thread already, and I can’t think of any at the moment. I just wanted to post in this thread to say that prostitution and brothel keeping (if those involved are over 18) are both legal in New Zealand.

Yes, I think the two are very very similar. To the point where it doesn't make sense that one is legal while the other is not.

As far as I know, the porn industry does a lot to make sure that the "talent" are regularly tested and whatnot. If the same was done with regulated prostitution, I don't see why prostitution shouldn't be legal.

I mean. Either way, you're whoring yourself out.

Porn is far more acting-based, whereas prostitution is entirely pleasure-based. They both have to look the part, they both have to have appeal, and they're both selling their bodies, although prostitutes sell their bodies directly while porn stars sell images and videos of their bodies more than anything else. I think that as vocations they're quite different.

And I disagree with the legality of either of them solely because I disagree with the morality of either of them, but that's just me. I can live with either being legal because I personally am not interested enough to be a partaker of the fruits of either industry anyway.

Both are kinda the same I see it as this point and print but Porn and prostitution are the same one. one is just seen world wide i.e porn, prostitution is the same but not seen world wide and more of those women/men die more often.
Chuckles I guess I will help. But it will cost you your soul.

Prostitution is a far more widespread occupation and one of the oldest professions in the world. It would be hard to regulate such a thing with any sort of authority and the sheer cost of the testing would be enough to make it an almost impossible task to accomplish.

The Porn Industry, however, is much smaller and easier to manage. While it amounts to the same thing as prositution, in theory, the worlds are pretty much polar opposites of each other.
