    Ending levels

What levels were your characters when you finished this game? If you trained up to something like lvl 99 to fight some of the hardest bosses and/or for the heck of it, what level do you think would've been good enough to beat the game? Right now I'm just trying to finish the main story so I'm not too worried about the sidequests that you have to grind up to high levels to do. The Bradygames guide recommends about lvl 45, but that seems too low...how about 55?

Also, do you have to level up all the characters equally?

You do not have to level up all characters save for a special trophy in the sky pirate's den. Also sometimes if your main party gets knocked out its beneficial to have a party who won't die in one hit to whatever they were facing as they run..

Currently I'm 40-42 and I'm about to go south of Feywood, per the story... Not sure how close I am to the end though.

My first playthrough (on my second now) I beat the game at an average level of about 60. Considering that I stumbled into the final boss battle without preperation, I was slightly disappointed that it wasn;t more challenging...

...but if you're hearing suggestions of 45, perhaps I was overleveled...although some attacks were pretty heavy, even at lv. 60.

Chris: "That would explain all the gravity."

    Ashe: 58
    Vaan: 55
    Balthier: 50
    fran: 40
    Penelo: 39
    Basch: 42

you can tell which ones are my main party but the final boss wasn't hard as i thought. Though it does look very cool

My characters were at around 52ish, and the final bosses, though they looked cool, weren't that tough. Mind you, I tried to keep haste, protect, shell, and bubble on at all times, but they weren't particularly tough.

All my characters were level 60'ish when I got to the end. After spending a meaty amount of my time on side quests and such, there all level 80'ish.

    47-48...

I did have one maximillian(sp?), one masumune, and Bubble/Bravery/Faith spells. The rest was storebought in shops along the way that you normally had access to.

I guess information about the boss strategy could be a spoiler...
    (SPOILER)
Without shellga and bubble, the final boss could have been very hard at that HP level... but with 6000hp after bubble and shell reducing the attacks to 1000-2900 range depending on the attack... it wasn't too bad... -aga are 800-1300 range.. and when he's in faith and used magic shield before dispel landed.. he hit a few other spells upwards of 2500 group.. Holy hit for 2500~ single, and his final attacks started to climb towards 3000 group, but never broke it.. not sure if shell might have dropped.

Mine are at level 60 in Ridorana/ Pharos Tower, like their guest Reddas. Pretty easy sailing. Got pwned twice on a hunt though.

I used that leveling trick for fun and got everyone up to about level 80. The same level as Reddas.

Like the mid 40s. I don't know if that's the normal level or not, but the final boss certainly was challenging. I haven't had a heart-poundingly difficult final boss in awhile. Made the ending that much more awesome.

    What leveling trick?

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

There are two leveling tricks, one on the Stillshrine of Mirian that involves battling a Negalmur and another for level 60 or over.

Reddas is level 60 at the start of Ridorana Cataracts.

Search Auto-leveling tricks on the thread search here or at GameFAQ. I've never done it but have seen posts for both. The level 60 auto-leveling requires 10 Espers, the Negalmur one is easier.

    Here's the level 60 one
