This is a close match between KHII and Twilight Princess, but KHII wins it.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

Phantasy Star Universe because it's the best PS2 RPG ever made.

Final Fantasy V Advanced is a video game released in 2006. It counts!

I haven't had the chance to play Twilight Princess yet or that might be my favorite, but as it stand Kingdom Hearts II was my favorite hands down.

Legend of zelda, twilight princess. Runner up would be super robot Taisen: Original Generation 2. Damn I'm loving that series.

I'd agree with you, but Shadow of the Colossus was last year. Still an awesome game though.

On a personal level, Xenosaga III was my most loved buy with KHII after that and then FFXII after that. I'd say on a technical and ambition level FFXII was the best, though.

I would say MGS3: Subsistence but I feel this should be about original properties not remakes and special editions.

It's a toss up between Suikoden V and FFXII but I'm going to give it to XII cause it restored some faith in the series for me after the disappointing FFX. I also don't play MMOs so FFXI doesn't really exist to me. Therefore, not counting the rereleases of older FF games, I haven't played a good FF since IX.

FFXII gave me everything I was looking for in the series for awhile. A living breathing world, an open ended and strategy based combat and game system. A completely likable cast, a simple but engaging storyline that isn't boggled down by a sappy love story or pointless plot-twist that only serve to make you believe the game is deeper than it really is.

An honorable mention goes to Xenosaga Episode III. The game itself was beautiful and it really redeemed the series for me. Unfortunately, it's difficult to judge this game alone since it's part of a overall story so I'm sad to say I'm happy Xenosaga is finally over and that it ended on a strong note but I would prefer for it to remain over...

KHII wins my reward for biggest disappointment of 2006. Gameplaywise it's flawless, but I feel they really dropped the ball on the story and characters. Alot of suspense and build-up only to lead to one anti-climatic moment after another. To be honest, it killed my interest in the series and ruined it's one chance to step out of the shadow of Disney and Squenix.

I need to finish Shadow of the Colossus, otherwise I would have mentioned it. I also will be picking up Zelda pretty shortly as well. So I may have to update.

    I love you <33

    Best game of 2006?

Nintendogs and Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. I would say Warioware: Touched, but I'm not sure if that was released over in the UK this year. Can't say 12 yet for obvious reasons =P

Nintendogs is addictive. So addictive that as soon as I got this game, I never played anything else until Christmas day (I got this game a few weeks prior). I love making my dogs wear Rainbow Wigs, and playing certain tracks like Colonel Bogey is frickin' hilarious.

MaL: PiT. Wow. I got this on Christmas Day, and I love it. Totally new gameplay system, wasn't expecting it. There are so many different ways to attack and destroy enemies, it never gets dull! I'd say at the most..it has 20+ hrs of gameplay. Not much more. I've just gone past the 20 mark, all my team is at level 21, and I am near enough the end.
Go get this game. It's fun, with lots of interesting puzzles

Guitar Hero also kicked arse - it does get harder surprisingly quick =/

Twilight Princess was probably the best out of the few Gamecube titles I got this year (meaning 2006). In fact, I think it was the only Cube title I got. Not the best, but it is challenging.

    Disappointments?
Magna Carta. Got this for my 20th birthday..and the gameplay is very lame, VA..erm, debatable. I gave up playing it not long after I started it.

KHII had probably a very poor start out of all the games I played this year. It got progressively better, but right now I am stuck and have other games to be playing.

EDIT: Squall, this is for the best games that were released in 2006 =P

I bitch about the game a lot, mainly for the lack of story and weak characters, but it is still the best of the series out there.
She loves it more then X!
