    Dancing Chocobo Duplicating armaments

This is a useful technique I read about a while back in my PSM magazine when FF Tactics made its first debut.
I found the magazine in my archives.
Now I am going to share it with you all, no need to thank me.

To begin with, open up the menu screen. Then choose a character that has the "Two Sword" ability. Choose the desired weapon you wish to duplicate.
Equip the weapon on to that character's left hand,( it is imperative that you do this. )and a shield on to the right hand( you must have a character with the appropriate job qualifications to equip a shield ).
Now, go to an item shop, in any city, it doesn't make a difference which one. Select the character specified above to enter the "Fitting room", and select the option "Best fit".
Then you simply select " Quit fitting", for your left hand, then exit the fitting room screen, and once you have left the store, you should have an exact duplicate the weapon equiped in the characters left hand.

NOTE: You still have to pay some dough out to do this. But guess what? The Excalibur only costs 10 gil! What a deal.
I have only tried this with swords, but it could work with knives and axes, I don't know, try it. I would try it myself, but I no longer own this game.

Who needs knives when you've got 40 Excaliburs!

Could you dupe the Masamune or the Chijariden (sp)? I know that the average sword user can't hold those swords, and those who can hold them aren't able to hold shields. What about Orlandu? Can't he equip Ninja Swords or Katanas? If so, you could give him Two Swords as a Holy Swordsman and do the trick to get multiple Masamunes, thus making it okay to Draw Out the Masamune in battle.

I can't think of any other way you could duplicate a Katana because Samurais are the only class that equips them without a support skill. And you'd have to give someone Two Swords. Even if you used a Ninja with "Equip Knife", you'd still have the problem that Ninjas can't use shields. So the only thing that comes to mind is having Orlandu do it, assuming I'm correct about him being able to equip Katanas.

I seem to remember the trick not working with other pieces of weaponry. I'm not sure which, but I want to say spears. And also, I think rods/staffs/sticks, too. Not that you'd ever particularly need to dupe those, but, meh.

    eargh!!!

Hey dude, you just need to have honor and play the game as it was made, don't use tricks to make your way to altima easyer than it is, forget doing that, it is not as Balbanes told you to.

This is perhaps the most useful glitch in a FF, except maybe the W-Item glitch in FFVII.

Long ago I tried this with Orlandu and I wasn't able to duplicate Katanas this way.

In any event, duping Knight Swords is the best way to go, if you're so inclined.

There's a terribly similar glitch in FF4 which allows you to dupe weapons.

I've duped many Excaliburs and they are fun to throw using a Ninja.

Agreed. I don't cheat until I've beaten the game. But now that I've beaten the game, I have about six Excaliburs and Save the Queens.

Yes it is possible to dupe katanas....its nice to have in case the Masamune or the Chidreden (I know this is spelt wrong) breaks.

Ok, I'll bite. How do you duplicate them then?

you dupe katanas the same way you do any other sword, cept have a Samurai have two swords ability. Have a shield in the up hand and the katana in the lower hand.....go to a store and hit the best fit button....change whatever sword it replaces the shield with for the broad sword (to save money) and tah dah! you should have a duped katana. (then again its been a while since I have played FFT but I know it works)

I don't think Samurais can equip Shields. The only way they can is to give them "Equip Shield", and if you do that, you won't be able to give them "Two Swords".

The only character who could ever equip a shield in the right hand and a Katana in the left while still having the "Two Swords" ability is Orlandu, as a Holy Swordsman.

Default I have a better one...

    No Two-Swords, No Shields!

It was with a Samurai and Masamune. Go to a Trade City with Masamune/Chirijiraden (since they're stronger than what the Trace Cities sell), and equip a weaker katana in the other hand (the free one), and say Best Fit and answer No. Then leave the Fitting Room. You got another Masamune for free! Orlandu can do it as well. And for his Excalibur make sure he has Reflect Mail already since the shop will make you buy Reflect Mail (if it's a castle shop). I like to have Orlandu with Thief hat and Power Sleeve, so duping Excalibur is done at a Trade City.

OK, I've tested out everybody's suggestions here:

I was able to duplicate the best Samurai Katanas using the conventional sword-and-shield-in-the-wrong-hands technique. It only worked with Orlandu as a Holy Swordsman at Warjilis Trade City.

    The other suggestions didn't work.

I have to say that this changes my outlook toward the Samurai class. I liked their Draw Out skill, but it was hampered by the fact that they only had one of each of the top Katanas, and they couldn't equip and Draw Out with them at the same time. Plus with breakage and all, it didn't sem to be worth the risk. This makes them a much more attractive class.

Cheers! I've never used the item-dupe cheat, and never will, on principle. I do, however, encourage you to catch the powerful weapons that high-level ninjas would throw at you on 'Horror' (Deep Dungeon). My party has 99 Chaos Blades, 99 Excaliburs, 99 Save the Queens, 99 Chirijiradens, 99 Masamunes...again, on principle. Hello folkses!

Hey, Despotus, I thought you were a life crystal by now! Welcome back!

I admire your principle, man. And your patience.

I tried out the Samurai in battle with the new swords. Seriously sweet, no matter how you get them.
