You know what... I might buy this. I don't care that I'm justifying Square's irrational love of remaking everything.
"It is a well-known fact that all heroes in all tales disliked vegetables as children.
Their legend begins with their overcoming of this weakness, and then continues with a journey filled with hardships.
That noble vegetable, the onion, lives on as a symbol of hardships overcome, and as the mark of a true hero."
Someone should just re-relese FF and FFII on a new consol with NES Graphics for those who didn't get a NES back in the day. It would look old, but it would allow people to experience EXACTLY what they missed rather than an updated version. It would still work becuase it would appeal to fans, and it worked for FFs IV, V and VI.
Well since it's for iPhone I don't think we'll be seeing anything amazingly updated. It'll probably be a basic port just to cash in a bit more. Whatever makes money, right?
Looks like they just threw the two PSP games onto the iphone lol. Added a touch screen menu too i guess. :/
Square will still be remaking those first couple of FFs ten years from now.
I did not read any of the accompanying articles, but since it is a release on the iPhone, it will probably be a port rather than a remake. I see nothing wrong with porting a classic game to multiple consoles over many generations as long as they don't market it as a remake when it is a port.
I believe in the power of humanity.
So when do they start remaking the PS1 FF games?
I want to fight Edea at 60FPS in 720P baby.
This topic, FF Remake?, speculates that Tetsuya Nomura will be announcing an anticipated remake of one of the later games in the Final Fantasy series. Developers prefer to create ports rather than remakes due to the resources involved; a remake is an expensive venture similar to creating an entirely new game, whereas a port is something that a small team of programmers can do.
I believe in the power of humanity.
I'd definitely rather have a 3D remake for PS3. With voices. For every game up to 9. Hell, even for 10 and 12!
