I thought about doing it, to be able to take more time off to work on things I love to do, but in the end I decided not to.
I've thought about contributing funds to a couple of MTG youtubers I like but otherwise no.
I watch a lot of YouTubers that have patreons. I really like that community outreach has evolved past a simple "donate" button. You can essentially just buy things like 1 on 1 skype time with your favorite artist or get a video or picture made exclusively for you.
Kickstarter is more my style, though. I prefer a one time donation towards a project with a deadline.
You're too pro for us, black orb.

Oh man. I see patreons for like the artist Sakimichan and I get stars in my eyes. They're getting $27,602 every 1-2 months. I'm like I COULD BE A GREAT ARTIST LIKE THEM SOMEDAY AND MAKE THAT!
But I can't sooooo
Sakimichan makes most of his money from people who want to see nude variations of his artwork, so it's more that he's cashing in on sex selling than anything imho. Those who don't do nudes rarely get the same kind of subs, regardless of their quality levels.

Right now I consume more than I produce so I don't feel the need to do the Patreon thing but I'm definitely considering it as an option to finance some creative projects as opposed to indiegogo and Kickstarter in the near future. Do you find that you get a lot of people donating through there?
