If you leave an adult male and female in a marsh, then catching frogs will go pretty fast. If you wait long enough, you'll get to catch a gold frog, which is worth 4 normal frogs (I think).

Stealing, on the other hand, is only useful during boss fights. Stealing from random enemies just yields normal items that can be easily bought from any shop. I don't know why anyone would bother doing that.
