Thread: Final Fantasy XII: Finally Released - Your Opinions

  1. #106

    Thumbs up FFXII

I just recently got FFXII CE and I have like 9 hours and 20 minutes in, and I reached a point where I got the GAME OVER, so I decided to take a break. It has been really fun and has a great story, I only wish his clothes and armor was customizable... kinda sick of the whole vest thing...
The funny thing is, usually when I stop playing a game after GAME OVER I am mad and frusterated, but I was actually happy. Perhaps it is just that perfect combination of fun and challenges, or maybe I am just a little tipsy off of the cold medicine I just took
The battle system is fun, if you set it so you aren't just letting the Gambits do all the work. Also it is nice how you can do practically anything with your licenses and weapons, etc.

This is a definite recommendation and, in my opinion, definitely one of the best FF games.
    *****/5 stars so far

It has been some time since it was in the actual title screen. Far too long.
No, I really meant Prologue (ya know, the track that plays when Cecil and Kain leave Baron in FFIV). Although I agree that it's been a while since Prelude was used as an opening theme and it made me go w00t!

Ah....I got it on Oct. 31 (when it came out). So far it's pretty good, i like the characters and the only complaint is that i hate the battle system xD I wish they would stick to the same things. If the were going to make it active battle then they could of at least made it like Kingdom Hearts or somthing. But...aww i dunno it's alright but there are things i don't like about the battle system.

And also i'm not one to bash the voice actors, but i don't like Vaan o.o
and it's not just the voice actor either xD He looks too much like Tidus but i hated Tidus in the beginning then i started to like him towards the middle of the game. I have a feeling i'm going to start to like him though. But is it just me or is there somthing wrong with Vaan's face? o_o

But otherwise i really like it ^_^
and Ashe,Balthier & Fran are my favorite characters
But i do hope that it'll be somewhat like FFX so Ashe and Vaan will hook up. :rolleyes2 *is a sucker for final fantasy love stories*

I like it soooooo much better that FFX. I kinda had the feeling that plot wise FF went back to it's old school roots. I'm not really a FF fan(I'm into Morrowind and Oblivion) but I like this game a lot!

Can i just ask.. what is Basche like? In all of the clips of the game i've played he looks so freaking badass. is this true? It seems like Balthier is the favourite so far.

(SPOILER)Basch is far from badass. If you're thinking of badass along the lines of Auron, or Amarant; Basch is nothing of the sort. He is a noble warrior who values honour. If anybody is badass in this game it would be Balthier.

I would recommend not skiping scenes. Isn't one of the main purposes of playing a game to find out the depths of the story? Man usually if I accidently skip a scene, I'll restart back to last save point so I don't miss anything. It takes away from you learning more of the story if that's what you're asking.

I only skip story sequences if I've died and had to start over (or forgot to save and reset >_>), which has actually happened a couple times.

Skip one scene and you'll pretty much be lost story-wise. If you don't mind that, skip away!

I don't think Ashe and Vaan will hook up because:

    a) Aren't Vaan and Penelo boyfriendxgirlfriend?
    b) (SPOILER)I heard there is a FranxBalthierxAshe love triangle.

Also, about Vaan, he's a good hero. He's not annoying like Tidus was, and he's not whiney anti-hero like SquallxCloud were, and he's just better than Zidane in general, he isn't as annoying as say...Kite of .hack, and I just plain like him better than Bartz and Cecil. So yeah, he's one of the better main characters in an RPG in awhile.

I'm pretty sure there isn't any romantic subplot in this game at all, at least that's what I've heard from people who already played through the game.

I'm also pretty sure that Vaan and Penelo are just friends.

    Thank god.

Yup, it doesn't have one and I'm glad they didn't put one. Since FFVIII, the loves stories are too much present... it's good to see a new FF without one.
