Nujabes is awesome, I don't really care what anyone has to say.

Techno and such, the obvious pick is Daft Punk and another choice would be Scooter, maybe. Also check out Freezepop, though they're more of the synthpop variety.
Ryth did a pretty good job of naming some bands (save for a few, Franz ferdinand, Ahem) But some more indiewise bands you might want to try out are:

Indie:
-Sunset Rubdown (Spencer Krug from Wolf Parade is the man)
-Beirut (Indie mussic with an Eastern European feel, very cool)
-Final Fantasy (not the game silly, a violinist with very cool stuff)
-Neutral Milk Hotel (Lo-Fi awesomeness)
-Band Of Horses (Awesome band with highly reverbed vocals)
-Broken Social Scene (Poppy, Quirky, Brilliant)
-Cursive (One Of My All Time Favorite Bands Start out with 'The Ugly Organ' CD.
-The Flaming lips (May have heard of them)
-The Shins (Folky Soft-Rock)
-Viva Voce
-Bloc Party

Hardcore:
-At The Drive-In (More Post-Hardcore, but awesome.)
-Bear Vs. Shark (Lighthearted awesome stuff, not super hard)
-Circle Takes The Square (Might be too Hard/chaotic)
-Coverge (Great Hard, almost Math-core)
-The Dillinger Escape Plan (Very cool)
-Wolf Eyes (Uncategorizeable, but let's put them here )

Rap/Hip-Hop:
-Aesop Rock
-Cannibal Ox (One of my faves)
-Sage Francis (meh)
-Gangstarr (awesome)
-Classified (Very cool)

Techno (I'm gonna lump synthpop/campy/everything close to techno in)
-Definitely Aphex Twin
-Black Moth Super Rainbow
-Ratatat (Awesome Sythed out guitar, amazing stuff, you are warned.)
-The Octopus Project (More in the Post-Rock Vein)
-Cinematic Orchestra (Electronica, moreso)
-Venetian Snares (incredible Break-core/glitch beats, again, amazing)
-We Will Build (Incredibly Happy Dance-Tronica)

That should keep you busy for a while. (Oh, and when your friends are wondering who/what the heck you are listening to because they have no idea who it is, thank me!)

Also, I would like to know if you have ever heard about a genre called 'Post-Rock'? Its really slow melodic stuff (usually with no singing) that is very amazing really. Some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear. If You are interested, I will post up some Post-Rock bands for you as well.

Long Post Out!
