Well, then, i'd like to apologise to my teammate. I'm really sorry...things during the course of this competition made it so that I was really unable to spend as much time on this as I would have liked to. I hope that, if we lose because of this, that you can forgive me for my mistakes.

Mum and Omocle did an incredible job. Wonderful work, and there's really no doubt in my mind you two are going to win.

Thank you for your kind words, but I think you are an incredible artist and have loads of talent. There is no way you are not going to be in the final and you deserve to be there. I feel it all depends on the subject matter for the final drawing - there are some areas I just fall down on where you excel. Hey, I may not get into the final - but I've enjoyed the ride and its got me back into painting again which I hadn't done for 3 years.

Best of luck everyone, and yes I agree that the works submitted were of a good standard. Well done everyone! We can all give ourselves a great big pat on the back, and Tan too for thinking up these inspiring challenges and then proceeding to "herd cats".

All of those pictures are awesome, but the picture of the Dancer is stunning.

    great pics..

All the best of luck to everyone. I can feel I won't pass through, but that's really okay, because it's been cool to create these things I normally wouldn't have a go at. The water colour of the dancer was by far the hardest thing I've ever accomplished, and I'm greatful for completing it!

Black Orb, if you were in this, you'd just own us all up and win the damn thing at challenge 1. XD

Well, Jowy's taking too long (or I'm just very impatient) so I've decided to write the review for their (ValkyrieWing and 41-inches-wide) pic. I'll post his review when I get it, but I won't include the score he gave. I'm sure they'll be about the same anyway -_-

First off, there's a twist (xD). Instead of getting 3 main judges to review each of your works, I treated the guest judges for your three pieces as your main judges. This means that instead of 12 reviews for each person, there are only 6. I did this because I believe that when a person requests a picture from an artist, the real main goal is to please them, and it doesn't really matter how other people review their picture. The reason why the extra guest judge is to be sure people didn't request a picture from one team and give them a good score just because they like the person who drew it, so I asked a friend of mine (who you may know) to guest judge (he reviewed each very harshly, mind you).

Oh, and for the pieces you both worked on, both of you get both scores factored into your averages.

    Let me introduce the judges:
There were all the people who requested pictures (obviously)
And, most importantly, the harshest judge I have seen so far,
Dignified Pauper, the wittiest member to grace their prescence at our forums to date. He's banned, too :o

    So, here's the reviews:

    Team Imagine: 41-inches-wide and ValkyrieWing

    41-inches-wide #1

    DK:

"I was already expecting suave things from Aicha, and her picture definitely exceeded my expecations, I love it so much.
    It's totally awesome."

    DP:

"We have some interesting visuals here. A pair of adolescents sitting outside a building. Anime inspired character faces with interesting coloring aspects throughout, as well as some idle characters throughout. However, I'm left wondering, what does the art suggest. We see some American influences of coke and the WcDonalds.
Yes, W, interesting, an upside down M. Overall, the art is decent, however, amateur at best."

    41-inches-wide #2

Emma (Shauna appears to be gone, and hasn't been on in awhile, so I got her friend, Emma, who is also in the pic, to write one, albeit a very short one xD):

    "I liked it."

    DP:

"Another anime inspired artwork. Two girls in a bed, and if it weren't art, I'd say it's slightly lesbian, but in the same sense, sleepovers are just what girls do.
I remember many a sleepover I have had with girls who loved the idea of having a gay man stay in their place, but that was all in college. Either way, I know this suggests nothing of a lesbian overtone, my mind just wanders. The coloring and illustrations are well done."

    ValkyrieWing #1

    Resha:

"I like the style of picture and how it's in black and white; it adds a lot of atmosphere to the picture.
The features of Dylan are a little off, but only slightly, and other than that it's great."

    DP:

"Man, I almost wanted this to be "Loony BoB Dylan". However, I'll suspend my anticipations in order to judge fairly. I know the poster that you are trying to cover, and for the most part, this is done well in the style that you are doing it in. The lack of definite detail is nice, such as on the shirt, however, that line above the lips that defines it, it just seems out of place. Too sharp for a very gentle picture. His hair is well done, and the face bears a nice resemblence."

    ValkryieWing #2

    Kitsune No'Kage:

"Over all I think you grasped the challenge quite well, even for being as open as it was. This picture does an exelent job of representing both sides of the same person, and depicted in the struggle against eachother is an exelent choice.

The calm rational hero vs the raving manman villain. I admitt I was a little suprised to see two figires in the picture, but as I can see they are in reality the same person. An exelent job depicting the struggle between good and evil."

    DP:

"Regardless, silver vs. black, or white vs. black, either works.
The white angel is obviously benevolent, appearing above, with light behind it, thrusting downwards on the dark angel who comes from the darkness.
Classic heavenly angel vs. malevolent angel. We've seen it.
On the light side, I like the wings of the dark angel and its outfit over-all. The backdrop is also nicely done."

    41-inches-wide and ValkyrieWing:

    tan:

It's a very peaceful piece, and the coloring is nice. It's a bit too cartoony for my taste, but it's a decent piece overall.

    DP:

"Is that an oil spill in the water or a reflection of what looks like the mast of a row-boat. This seems to be going towards realism, but at the same time, it's a little off. I do like the coloring though.
I suppose the skydrop is nice as well, although, the hills look a little like desert dunes."

    Team Dionysus: Omecle and Mum

    Mum #1

    tan:

This is the kind of work I'd expect from you, Mum. The background is great (even though it wasn't white like I wanted it to be), and the coloring on the suit is great, also.
There's only one problem, and it's pretty big: My face isn't exactly drawn right. The face is sort of contorted and it kind of looks bizarre. If you had drawn the face perfectly, I would've given you a perfect score.

    DP:

"Is someone trying to score brownie points, if so, try again. The blur is a little annoying, the bow-tie just isn't Bond, but the background resembles the part where people get shot. I can see the familiarity, but at first glance, I almost thought this was Agent Proto. That instantly makes this a terrible piece. However, for the attempt, I'll be merciful."

    Mum #2

    foa:

"I feel this is an excellent piece, especially given the fact, or so I've been told, that Mum considers landscapes to be a weakness of hers. I believe the use of the single palm tree in the foreground is a creative use of solitary objects in the environment. In reality, I expected a fairly typical landscape, viewed at somewhat of a distance, but I was pleasantly surprised when I was wrong, wrong, wrong. I'm also glad she elected to bring forth multiple emotions in one piece, instead of sticking strictly to solitude.

The only thing I'm even close to being dissatisfied with is the lack of detail in the background. I feel that if it were more detailed, the viewer would be given a better idea of solitude as the result of having the knowledge that different things were going on around them, but they were alone, and at peace with that. However, given time constraints, and the fact that the quality of the piece is marred by the blurriness of the camera, I'm giving that less consideration than I would if I viewed the piece in up close in real life."

    DP:

"Interesting perspective for the camera of this landscape. Very brilliant coloring and illustration of the palm tree in the foreground as well as the rest of the island backdrop. The clouds in the sky are nice, and over-all, the picture is very relaxing and cool to look at. This really makes me want to go to Maui."

    Omecle #1

    lionx:

I like it. I like how the object and cat have such light shading, but theres no background so.^^; But it shows good shading and use of space otherwise :3

    DP:

"What, is that garfield? Silly artists, when will you learn; Garfield is best left in the comics. Further: Garfield should have lasagna or be sleeping because he was lazy. If you're going to draw a cat, don't make him look like Garfield. Redeeming qualities include the cat's suit.
Not to mention the piano and its shadow is done well."

    Omecle #2

    nik0tine:

"Its incredible the color scheme is excellent. The colors are kind of "murky" and they make the picture slightly less clear, which is perfect, because memories are never 100% clear. It has a dreamlike quality to it and everything blends so nicely. This is very, very good. One of the better peices of art I've seen at EoFF. Ever. Hmm... I was hoping to see the pink laces highlighting childrens' faces, but it's not a big deal that it isn't there at all."

    DP:

"I think this is a rather intersting piece. It looks as though this is an extended practice dance hall.
It certainly can't be a stage and this is why. Stages are more wide than they are deep.
The rafters, lights, and chandeliers are well done in the picture, and the pink streamer, interpretive dance mid action, breathtaking.
The floor and how impecable it is is also pleasing. Detail and craft was put into this work."

    Mum and Omecle:

    Reles:

"It looks very realistic and I love how the hair looks and the colors are amazing. Hm..the right side of her mouth looks odd, ya know? But that's all I really see. [It exceeded my expectations.]"

    DP:

"All I can say is that the visible eye is remarkable. It almost looks like a picture.
The art is well illustrated and colored.
The tilt of the head and the facial structure, the character seems rather intriguing.
I'm not sure what she is thinking. The warmth of the picture, and her face, really don't seem to go.
I think with that facial feature a cooler, more blue tone would be better."

    Results

First off, I'd like to say congratulations to all of you for making it this far. Mum and ValkyrieWing, you two have been in this competition the whole way, which I'm very thankful for. All but one of you have won at least one challenge, and Omecle's only been in this for two challenges, and had he appeared earlier, he most likely would have won one.

Secondly, to further ensure favoritism (in which a client gave someone they liked a high score) didn't occur, I threw out the highest score from each contestants' averages, which levelled the playing field for everyone.

Team Imagine, you two scored very well with your clients, though DP scored you very harshly. Both of you had 3 average pieces. None of them were really memorable, honestly.

Team Dionysus, you two scored very poorly on your first pieces. Maybe if you had taken your time and done them you would've done better. Your second and third pieces were both great, though.

    ...

    And the winning team is...

(SPOILER)Team Dionysus, congratulations, you're the winner of this challenge. Omecle, you had the highest average score (out of everyone) of 8.18. Your second picture was the one that won it for you, and it's quite obvious that it had the highest scores out of all of them. As for you Mum, you had the lowest average score out of everyone in this challenge, but because your partner won, both of you pass on to the final challenge. Both of you are now finalists.

    This means that....

(SPOILER)Team Imagine, you're the losing team of this challenge. Both of you did acceptionally well on all of your pieces, but none of you shined for this challenge.

(SPOILER)ValkyrieWing and 41-inches-wide: one of you will be accepted and one of you will be erased.

    ...

(SPOILER)ValkyrieWing, your pieces did acceptionally well, but the third piece dragged your average down. You could've drawn it very well, which would've provided an excellent foundation for your partner to add to, but you didn't.

    ....

(SPOILER)41-inches-wide, your pieces were also acceptional, but none of them were excellent. You also turned in a piece two days late, which may mean that you won't have time for the finale. We don't want you having to put your school life on hold just for this competition.

    And...

(SPOILER)ValkyrieWing, 41-inches-wide, both of you... had the same average of 7.06, so I will leave it up to you two to decide who you believe should be erased between the two of you. I want your response by tomorrow or else I will choose who is erased.

I'll post the final challenge's rules up tomorrow, when we decide who's erased.

Before I look at the scores, I'm just going to say it now. DP is an aweful reviewer, get a better one next time.

Edit: Okay, congratulations to Mum and myself for getting in. And I think that ending was poor, you can't just give them the same score and tell them to settle it on their own.

    I demand a showdown!

(And just for DP's information, the cat looks nothing like Garfield and it was meant to be related to the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland (hinted at the little quote I put there).

This challenge is so funny, well for me anyway! :3 And it's so hard.
The pieces from Dionysus (congratulations ~) and Valkyrie's are so remarkable!
I wish I could've done a better job, but hey anime is all I could do, and I'm inimical to change. So I request to be eliminated, for personal and technical reasons. I want to give Valkyrie the spot in this competition that she deserves.
But fear not. I will still be here in the Top Artist thread, lurking.
    Thanks again~

I...I dont deserve this. I don't deserve to be in the final three.

I would prefer some sort of draw-off.

And so this small chapter comes to a close, after watching both teams struggle for time and energy to finish their projects in the mist of what we call life they are greeted only by harsh words.

Ode to the fool, who thinks only of himself.
Let him be silent and forgotton.

An exelent job to both teams, your art was exeptional. I hope to see more, but the question I have is this: Whats next?

    Okay then.

41-inches-wide, you're erased. You were a great contestant. I hope you come back for the next "season" which is during the summer, so I think you'd actually have time to do it :D

This means that ValkyrieWing is accepted. Congratulations on making it to the final three.

I'll post the final challenge when I get back from school today. I'd like to (again) congratulate those who are in the final 3: Omecle, Mum, and ValkyrieWing. I think this will definitely be a great finale.

Oh, and, you three finalists, please be sure you won't be too busy for about the next month or so. That's just a hint for what's to come ;)

WTF? Dignified Pauper was a terrible reviewer. I think we would all appreciate reviews that display a certain level of artistic knowledge rather than the flitting, uncultured likes and dislikes of an individual. Not to mention the fact that the brevity of his reviews reflects nothing of the time and energy spent by the artists in their creations.

I still can't see why you couldn't wait three hours to get my detailed review.

    Whatever...
