animals don't brand themselves with names they just recognize eachother by natural characteristics
I don't think a fish can tell if the fish in front of him is the same fish that stole his piece of bread a week ago, or an entirely new fish. Once an animal loses contact with another, the next time they meet it's like the first time. They don't remember.
