    Do you mean modular XOrg-7.1? Can't you just install that from the repos? I thought it was in Edgy anyway.
    I actually checked earlier tonight and saw the version installed is 7.1, which is weird, because Firefox still scrolls like molasses when I have Beryl running, whichI thought it wasn't supposed to do with 7.1.

    If Firefox is scrolling like molasses, then it could be your font rendering engine. Check <a href="http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=235526&highlight=font+rendering">this</a> out; it could solve the scrolling problem and it will look a whole lot nicer.

    Yeah, the libreetype, libcairo and libxft patches make the fonts look real nice. I don't know if it'll fix performance, though.

    Do you have a dedicated GPU or onboard? If you're having problems with Aiglx or the Nvidia backend, I suggest trying Xgl. It runs on top of your current Xorg session to provide some stability for your GL composite manager. You can also try updating your Nvidia drivers to the newest beta.
