The idea of a one-night stand that ends up in a pregnancy or STD isn't too appealing to me.

Not that it should stop anyone else, necessarily, but that'd be my personal motivation to not do it were I in the situation.
Someone you don't love and total strangers aren't exactly always the same thing. And people get STDs and unwanted pregnancies from sex with those they love, too.
