I- I have a real reason to hate these twoMonda and I never spoke of it to anyone, but it was a dark day, one which will haunt us forever.
I will endeavour to express my experience to you as best I can - although the trauma has forever stunted my ability as a poet D:
Sharing strawberry ice cream,
the princess and I tripped lightly down the way
talking of better days, better things
The times when the fruit was plentiful and delicious
and there were mermaids and princes for days on end
revelling, revelling in that neverending magic
Upon reaching the end of the avenue,
we took it upon ourselves to visit that greatest
most beautiful and delicious of all orchards
in which scrumpleberry-tree was housed
as she had been for many a year
- the orchard, of course, was known by few
We passed through the wide golden gates:
intoxicatingly perfumed breeze
yet an unfamiliar stench fouled the air. Pale brow furrowed,
the princess turned to meet my shrug.
Moving against our sense of foreboding,
at the scrumple glade we beheld - curious
Beneath the boughs the most magnificent beast
A narwhal! With fine spiky horn and beady dark eyes
peering with wise innocence of a child
and yet behind it- behind-
Two figures, one a freakish blue beast, the other
a beanpole topped with a wispy wafro, guffawing
snorting, girning, attacking the poor beast and their pants
lie discarded beside them.
I said nothing, my heart
panicks like a rabbit-
Turning to the princess I gripped her slender wrist
and we turned far from that dark place,
And we did not revisit it
except in nightmares.
