We used to give this award to the member on the Site Staff that has done a significant amount of work and a strong effort to improving the EoFF front site. Back then, it was when our work was valued and rewarded not by the corporate nobody, but by the nobody who was our peer. At least we could call it our own.
I can't avoid the truth of the situation. EoFF is going down a crapshoot. We're mired by a rather helpless administration, controlled by capitalists who don't care for the content found here and only for the bottom line profit, and a lackadasical staff who, though we tried, we're aware: there's little we can do. Hands are tied. E-mails were sent, and not responded to. The populace can complain all you want, but one must realize the truth of the situation. If the people who care enough to give a damn and work for the sake of others can't do anything, what hope is there for people without more authority or access?
Complain all you want, you have no right. It's not your website anymore. The face of this place has changed, and it's not for the better. Our work is not respected; it just goes to the pockets of those who are bad businessmen. I'm not afraid to say it. They can IP ban me all they want, I know more than they do. That's not arrogance, that's a goddamn fact.
Before, I had hoped that perhaps, investing a little bit of effort in improving this place on our own volition would allow our owners to abandon their policy of salutary neglect. We wouldn't need a Boston Tea Party. We'd work, we'd be happy, and people would go on disrespecting us as ever, but at least we can say "hey, we built that." I don't have that anymore. Mullet, BoB, and Samuraid, who definitely have done more work than I have here, certainly don't have that, either.
Not anymore. We can't say this is ours, and we can't congratulate ourselves as a peer group. There is no objectivity to the idea that "someone here has helped the most, and he's a pretty cool guy." Other people wouldn't know it, because, people are idiots. If you really knew all of the details, you would be in charge, wouldn't you? Sorry, sheeple. But you suck. And we're in the boat right next to yours. Did you hear what we said? "This sucks."
Here's is the new shift in thought. We want it back. We're not going to get it back. Suicide is our only option. So, here's what we're going to do. This award now goes to the person who is going to ruin this site the most. Who here is going to destroy the new owners the hardest this time? Maybe this award is meaningless, but the next one, it'll be back.
This is no longer the award of the workers of the site recognizing each other. This is now the reward of us recognizing who here like to screw with the owners the most. This is my edict. Therefore, this award is not just for whoever happens to win this award (I honestly don't know who it is, right now).
It's for everyone. And now we're here to smurf it up.
