This is a competition to select a Cid's Knight. That title does not come easily, but I will not resort to working with someone in order to better my chances. If I am not quality enough to win outright, then obviously I am undeserving.

I disagree with that attitude. I think that by working with fellow contestants, your individual qualities shine through the song that the orchestra sings. Discounting the arm kills the leg.
