The way I see it, English Muffins are generally savoury and Crumpets are always sweet.
Mind you I don't really like Crumpets, I'm more of a Pikelet person

oh a silver dollar pancake. They are great with ice cream
I use to make homemade crumpets and I'd add butter and grape or strawberry jelly/jam to them. It was yummy! Oh, Thomas' English Muffins are basically the same thing and they taste pretty good toasted.
Melt some Red Leicester on top of them and they're awesome!
