I've heard about the term gaydar before, but how exactly does it work?

Gaydar is basically your intuitive ability to tell if someone is gay.

My Latin teacher at high school was gay, and I was fairly sure of it long before anyone told me - that's my gaydar.
Then when I noticed he was listed with another guy in the telephone directories and everyone in my class started talking about it during a party I was pretty much completely sure.

Well then, I guess I lack the ability to tell if someone's gay unless it's completely obvious.
