The human ships were outnumbered 500 to 150 (they usually won an engagement if they were outnumbering them 3 to 1) , the only thing they had going for them were the Super MAC cannons in orbit. A few ships got through to the atmosphere and dropped about a million covenant on the ground. Now the Spartans always won ground engagements, but having to protect the nuclear reactors (powering the MAC), they eventually had to move and leave the reactors to be destroyed (they set off a nuke themselves). This made the super MAC guns useless and got the rest of the fleet wiped out. Then the covenant did what they always do. Glass the planet.

Dennis already said stuff about it but he's Dutch and honestly, it's Dut really even a country?

But yeah because I am a halofag I know the lore. Canonically, the Humans actually won ground engagements a surprising amount of the time even without Spartans. The problem was never, really, the ground engagements, which were messy and costly but where we could do well enough to win. In fact we had been so damned tenacious that the Elites, especially, were starting to ask "Hey why haven't you made peace and incorporated them into the Covenant yet?" because they reckoned we'd earned it, and Truth's little crusade had always been a little fishy. It was in space where we lost the war, because Covie ships both outnumber and outclass Earth's on a huge scale (The Pillar of Autumn being an exception because Keyes is a smurfing badass and Cortana is also rather neat at being in control). The Autumn has a crew of around 2500, of which not even close to all survive down to Halo, but the humans still provide severe resistence to the numerically far-greater Covenant, and would have done so even without the Chief there.

Not to mention The Pillar of Autumn was refitted like a bull. 6 times the Archer missile pods, a MAC cannon that could fire 3 slugs in a short time and a full load of Spartans?

    Daaaaaaaamn. *whistles*

Didn't Cortana rob a load of info and stuff from a Covenant ship too? So she basically pimped whatever ship she was in.

Ok, let me cut off a few of my fingers first.

Also, and I am sure Keith will agree, the best thing about Reach is that shots you fired just before you die still go through. So much frustration avided.

idk what the smurf the rest of you nerds are talking about.

The books, mostly. Also the comics and the Halo Encyclopedia. Halo wiki too.

I was playing earlier but I sucked and ended up quitting

Oh yeah, but that bitch allowed a smurfing covenant AI to steal the data on how to slipspace jump from within the atmosphere, causing the destruction of New Mombosa in Halo 2.

But she did really pimp out the covenant flagship.

They need to fix Invasion so that people in parties are put on the same side. As fun as it is to hunt Steve down and make his life a living hell (cue a big long post from Steve telling everyone how he managed to kill me once or twice ), that's not the reason I go into a team playlist with a party of friends.

Nah I thought it was funnier when we went hunting Dan and his boyfriend "OoO Hakim XxX" I remember noticing that these two disappeared for most of the 3rd phase of that mission.

Hahaha yeah just imagining Dan spooning with some big Turkish guy and going "Ooooh, Hakim!" killed me.
