The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

    7/10

Really good thriller! The girl is a bad ass and the brief insights we get into her character are very telling. Con: It's really hard to watch Michael Nyqvist. I don't see the appeal, but I get why her character is drawn to an older man.

The Girl Who Played With Fire

    6/10

This one felt more drawn out, but the ending made it very worth while. Her father is such a prick. I'm surprised this isn't a huge feminist movement film.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

    5/10

It was just okay. Nothing really special. The ending was pretty anti-climatic.

    Buried

    7/10

The gimmick of it all taking place inside of a coffin reminds me of that horrible movie Phone Booth, but glad to say it's at least better than that. I wasn't sure if Ryan Reynolds, who is normally known for romantic comedies, who be able to play such a serious role but he does it with ease. He's engaging to watch especially in extreme close-ups where you feel as suffocated as he does. There are several instances in the film where you think it's going to end and it probably could and still be a good film, but it keeps going to deliver an unambiguous ending. There are snippets of hope. Probably my least favorite part about the film is all the logistical things and the fact that not until toward of the end of the film do you actually care about the person inside of the coffin. I like the message of the film which is basically, the government doesn't care about people, they care about their own agenda, but they should have stuck with this all the way through.

    Battle: Los Angeles

This move is amazing. If you ever wondered what a 2 hours long Marine Corps Recruiting Video would look like, this is it. You get such classics as "I need you to be my Little Marine" "Show em How Marine's Fight!" "Marines Don't Quit" and "We're Going to Take back this city." Act now (or later, actually) and you'll even get the "Girl soldier who's doubted but then proves she's as tough as the boys" cliche and "Making it back home, being given a break, and then loading up on more ammo because you need to get back in the fight FOR GREAT JUSTICE" Black Hawk Down ripoff.

Yeah, it's okay for a boom boom special effects flick, but leave your brain at home. Also, fun fact, the USMC had final script approval. That knowledge makes picking out recruiting video moments half the fun of seeing it.

Does it at least feature Recon Marines?
This twenty-year-old boy was distinguished from childhood by strange qualities, a dreamer and an eccentric. A girl fell in love with him, and he went and sold her to a brothel...

    FFXIV Character

    21 - 3/5

I quite enjoyed this. It never felt like a great movie, but always felt like a good one. So it's a solid 3/5 for me. Worth seeing, but not worth raving about.

The Men Who Stare at Goats - 2/5

I suppose I enjoyed this as well, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping. Got a bit boring at times, I guess. But it still had funny moments. For me, this is a 2/5 as it's not a movie I'd suggest watching but it's still not something I'd class as a bad movie.

    ^ Yes, love that film!

    Mother

    8/10

You weabos would like this. A few naked Asians. There were some parts that I felt were too long and it made the movie feel longer. They could have condensed that, but it was an otherwise good film with a few campy random moments.

Naked Lunch. I've seen some weird movies but this is the strangest one yet.

An exterminator gets addicted to the stuff he kills the bugs with, accidentally kills his wife, runs away to an imaginary country, and writes a book about his adventures there. He also gets involved with a secret organization and a few different drug pushers, accidentally feeds a gay local to a centipede man, has conversations with his type writers, which happen to be living creatures in charge of said secret organization, and kills his wife's doppleganger in the same way he did her in the first time. He also can't seem to decide if he's gay or not and there's an amusing story of a talking butthole.

Weird flick, I give it an 8.

I want to call this one of the most intriguing synopses I've ever read in my life.

We watched Source Code last night. The name was the lamest thing about it - the movie was pretty sweet. I give it 419.7 stars out of 618.3 possible.

    The Wolfman- 9/10
Really enjoyed this movie, I felt that the way they portrayed the werewolves was amazing, really reminiscent of the old horror flicks. The plot was good, not great (hence the 9 instead of a straight 10), it could've used some work. (SPOILER)I thought the scene just after Lawrence was bitten and having fever dreams was an incredible piece of imagery for the psychological demons he had due to his repressed memories. Wonderful movie and if you have an appreciation for the horror genre I highly recommend it.

Because I'm one hell of a butler.

Yesterday, I watched Source Code. It was a good film, reminded me a bit of Groundhog Day. 9/10

I also got a glimpse of the trailer for The Hangover Part II, despite finding out that they supposedly removed it. I can't wait for that to come out!

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

    Sucker Punch

For a film completely lacking in good story-telling and absorbing characters combined with an overabundance of CGI. It's not bad. I thought it could've benefited from more gore and sleazy sex appeal. This isn't just me being a pervent. If it were gory like Sin City and sexed up like Bayonetta, it probably would've had more of an impact on the target audience.

    Hanna - 8/10

I'm terrible with reviews of movies, but it was a very good and enjoyable $6.

    The Best and the Brightest

    6/10

The amazing dialogue writing in this film is what saved it other than Neil Patrick Harris and Amy Sedaris being in it. They were actually not the funniest people in the film surprisingly although it's always funny to see Neil pretending to be straight. I rarely laugh at comedies because most of them suck, but this one actually managed to make me laugh really hard on more than one occasion, so for that it gets a six.

    Mosquito Coast

    5/10

Harrison Ford was pretty good at being bat- insane, but the film was just meh.

    Into the Wild

    7/10

Some of the best acting I've seen in awhile -- especially from the old guy, Hal Holbrook. The movie version story is a bit fabricated, but otherwise I thought it was a good adaption.

Wait wtf. I'm surprised this isn't a David Lynch film.
