I like this a lot better than the second and third movies. The business with Davey Jones could have been dealt with in a single movie instead of stretched out into two. And I agree that Will and Elizabeth lacked chemistry together (which wasn't as big a problem in the first movie). Frankly I found the relationship between (SPOILER)Phillip and Syrena, although equally cliched, a lot more compelling. I want to see more of them.

I saw several of the 'suprises' coming off a mile away including the (SPOILER)identity of the presiding judge, the (SPOILER)true identity of Jack's imposter, and the (SPOILER)business with the wrong chalices. But it was still an enjoyable seafaring yarn.

Lars Von Tier directed this. The same director of The Antichrist and Dancer in the Dark...It's a minimalist set. It mixes several different mediums such as a film, play, and novel. It's strange, but to be expected of a Von Tier film. The acting was great because the cast was chosen well and stars very prominent actors. Even the narrator is prominent (voiced by John Hurt). The costumes were good, but the editing did a piss poor job at masking the fact that the film wasn't blocked well. I didn't like how they had sound effects for the door that wasn't there, or the dog that wasn't there. And they really couldn't find a larger snow machine to cover the entire area...really? It left me wondering how cheap was it to make this film?

Then I go on imdb and it apparently cost over ten million dollars. I'm guessing most of the money went in to getting period piece props, clothing, cast, and Von Tier's cocaine. Otherwise I cannot justify why a film like this would be more expensive. It could have been done in a rural town or a built up set since it takes place entirely in one area, but instead it's on a friggin' stage. It took away from the believability. I like an element of realism in non-animated films. The main character played by Nicole Kidman when she had a normal forehead, is infuriating. Everyone in town is raping her and she's just like k. The ending was at least satisfying if not utterly disturbing, however, I don't agree with the message that all people are evil by nature. I'm giving this a high rating because despite the insanity, I was entertained and empathetic.

Bridesmaids - 7/10

Advertisements for this movie led me to believe it was going to be The Bridal Hangover, which wasn't the case. I still enjoyed it for the most part.

I'm a huge fan of Kristen Wiig and the rest of the girls - Maya Rudolph, Ellie Kemper, etc. And Chris O'Dowde from The IT Crowd. <3

The story was good for the most part (as comparable to other chick flicks). I did find it dragging a bit at times, but there were a lot of funny parts, and it's good to see Kristen Wiig in a starring role and I hope she'll be in more.

X-Men: First Class

It was pretty good. Certainly not the best superhero movie I've ever seen. It was pretty cool seeing the origins of a few familiar faces, even if most were COMPLETELY WRONG OMGWTF!

The friendship between Erik Lensherr and Charles Xavier wasn't exactly what I had pictured all these years, but it was still pretty cool to watch it unfold. Overall, I give it an 7/10.

Watched 3 movies recently that I've been meaning to see for a long time.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - 5/10
Nowhere near as good as I thought it would be. There were a few good moments in it but I don't think I'd watch it again.

Kick-Ass - 8/10
This movie was amazing, and the soundtrack to some of the scenes gave me goosebumps, granted parts of it were ripped from other films, but it still fit in well. Such a great film, and pretty funny too.

The Shawshank Redemption - 9/10
I almost didn't watch this, what a mistake that could have been. Aside from having one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a long long time, the whole movie was just done brilliantly, and the ending was perfect. I wouldn't rate it #1 of all time, but I can sort of see why it is on IMDB. If you haven't watched this yet, do it.

I just watched The Tourist.
(SPOILER) Well...It was just Angelina doing what she does best...spying. I thought it would be boring at first but it does grab your attention eventually...unless you figure out the whole thing from the beginning, which I did. The letter totally gave it away = reverse psychology. Nevertheless it was a nicely made romantic movie. Also the appearance of some of my favorite Italian actors caught me by surprise, and made me happy .
Angelina is...getting old.

Fanboys

My best friend who has the exact same sense of humour as me told me that this movie was lame, so I didn't go in expecting much at all. But I thought it was actually pretty funny. It wasn't amazingly hilarious, and I thought Seth Rogan's characters were kinda dumb, but overall it had decent jokes and was a pretty good comedy. Also, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes' cameo was absolutely hilarious.

Went in expecting a typical JJ Abrahms drama-mystery with good characters but no feeling of overall satisfaction at the end.

Went out having realized it was actually a comedy with good characters! And with no overall feeling of satisfaction at the end.

6/10 Nothing special. Except there's a scene where this guy gets super high and he falls asleep and the kids try to wake him up, but he won't wake up so they say: "HE WON'T WAKE UP! HE'S TOO STONED!"

He slept through the town around him being bombed with explosions everywhere. Yeah, marijuana: can keep you alive (and cozy) through an alien battlefield no problemo!

Man, Wall, Woman

Basically a soft-core pr0n. Very weird movie about a man who moves in next to a young woman. The walls are super thin and he can hear everything she does. I thought it was going to be like a thriller, murder suspense thing, but it's just topped with weird camera angles, lighting, and over-the-top storyline. The woman keeps getting calls from a mystery person who sounds like he's had way too man malboros. Eventually the viewer finds out that it's a guy who is closer to her then she had imagined. Everything else that happens is just absurdly weird, especially the ending. Not very believable in the slightest, but it's an Asian film so *shrug*

This is how vampire-human love stories should be done, Twilight. Basically a gritty, graphic, horror film about rogue vampires and a nice vampire who bites a cowboy. He turns in to a vampire, but doesn't want to kill to feed. The rogue vampires don't like this so end up going after him and his family. Bill Paxton plays a very convincing and menacing vampire. It is a bit outdated since it's from the 80's but the effects are still good.
