I'm not a big CMC person myself, but I enjoyed H&H day. Pleasant and amusing moments all round

Thanks, my questions are; (remember most of them are more opinion at the end of the day, rather than actual answers)

1. While the appearance of The Shadowbolts is revealed to be an illusion created by Luna in the first episodes, are their very existance an illusion i.e. did The Shadowbolts ever exist at all?

2. Seeing as two of the CMC are related to the Mane Six, how come they never met before the episode where the CMC is formed? (the scene in the first episode has been sadly confirmed as a mistake). Logically, they should have at least heard of each other before, right?

3. This is really opinionated, so brace yourself; In Owls Well That Ends Well, the point of the storyline is Spike was jealous for no reason, and "Owls are delicious" or whatever you call him was never the bad guy after all. If that's the case, why did it really look like he was? They had that weird head turning thing, and he was meant to only help at night, why was he helping during the day? They made it look like he was trying to make Spike jealous at times (like passing the item he was already getting - it didn't make the owl look helpful, it made him look like he was doing exactly what Spike thought he was doing). I still like the episode, but did anyone else find it poorly structured?

2. Yes, they've met before. They were briefly spotted together in the very first episode after Night Mare Moon appeared. I see this more as a coincidence that they met then.

3. "Owls are delicious"? xD His name is spelled Owloysius. Anyway, I think those scenes you bring up were seen from Spike's point of view. I thought the episode was structured fairly well.

In "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" the Mane 6 were shown to all be connected to each other prior to actually meeting, so I kind of just took the CMC's appearance together before formally meeting as a bit of the same kind of thing. Also, Applebloom obviously lives with the rest of the Apple family, but it looks like Sweetie Belle lives with her parents and Scootaloo, well they never even mention her family at all. It's possible to have not met.

In my opinion, if they were supposed to be sisters in this version, Hearts and Hooves would have been a great time to have mentioned it. If they didn't say it when all three of them where all getting Cheerilee a card or whatever that was (also, why wait for school, the could have just grouped up at Scootaloo's home if she and Cheerilee were sisters) there would have been a discussion about it between Scootaloo and Apple Bloom once Big Mac came into the storyline (a sort of "my sister, your brother" kind of dialogue).

The scene where the CMC are shown holding on to each other in episode one, has sadly been confirmed as an error by someone (I'll check the wikia tomorrow to check who.), but based on exactly what you said, I really wish that whoever it was had just kept his/her mouth shut, because the whole thing about, "friends being connected before meeting each other" is such an awesome line (and one of the reasons "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" is one of my favorite episodes) it would have been much cooler if they had just not mentioned the error, and made it out that the CMC just held on to each other randomly (which would be plausable) and not realized it when they met again or something (they could even remember that event in a later episode, maybe when they get their marks at last, that would be so cool ).

1. I'm guessing no simply because of the way they introduced themselves.

2. Need for a contrived plot device with lack of foresight likely to be retconed at some point.

3. Contrived plot red herring.

Another interesting thought. I was rewatching "Luna Eclipsed" with my wife and noticed that RD's costume looks to be a Shadowbolts uniform. Of course, that doesn't necessarily say that they actually exist in the world outside of that one instance since that was an experience RD had.

EDIT: Scootaloo can't be Cherilee's sister unless Cherilee has two sisters. I think Cherilee won the Sisterhooves Social with somepony else.

EDIT2: Okay, it wasn't Cherilee... it was Berry Punch and Applecore that won the race, so whatever.

Yeah, I noticed that (I rewatched that episode recently) it's kind of funny really, assuming that the Shadowbolts don't exist (which seems to be the general concience) no one other than the mane six would have a clue what that costume was, yet only Twilight was subjected to the cliche "wait, who are you again?" joke. Probably because Dash was zapping everyone no one had time to ask...

Also, I love the episode ("Luna Eclipsed", that is) and got the storyline of the episode, but why did the mane six not remember Luna being good now, or was the whole thing an act to make it scarier or something (it was their version of Halloween) That's the impression I came up with the first time I watched it, mostly after Pinkie saying something about it being fun to be scared (and she was the one who was "warning" everyone most of the time) but most ponies seemed genuinly scared, so I'm confused...
