Honda and Toyota are becoming complacent, and starting to introduce cost cutting measures at the the expense of quality construction and components. They're allowing their reputation as bullet proof and affordable cars they developed in the 80' and 90's to make them try and get away with this. They're didn't learn a lesson from Ford and GM trying this, and losing a lot of their loyal customer base.

Meanwhile, Hyundai and Kia are beginning to replace them as the new/cheap/reliable kid on the block. Also GM and Ford are beginning to put out some quality products again.

Everything goes in a circle.

Volkswagen/Audi also started the down trend a few years back, and I'm starting to see it in newer BMW's as well.
