It's more that Villa are punching so much below their weight at the moment. I don't think many people would have had them as relegation candidates this season.

"Excuse me Miss, do you like pineapple?"
Why not? They only finished 2 points above relegation last season, although admittedly they did have one of the worst managers in football at the helm. Still, who would've thought the "hey this manager had one good season therefore they're a world class beast who will slay all comers!" principle that the media and indeed my beloved team seem to follow would fail yet again...?
Villa (like Liverpool and Newcastle) have the weight of history behind them, they've been in the top flight for all bar one of the last 37 years and they won a European Cup in the 80s. Even as late as February 2009 they had a top four placing at their mercy seemingly. So it feels strange to see them struggle even when they had a bad season last year too. And their form of late has been pretty shocking.

Big shout out to my homeboy Jon Walters. I feel for you buddy.
Come on Utd! Lets do these scouses!
A combination of us being rubbish, Swansea time wasting for most of the second half, and - to their credit - Swansea knowing exactly how to neutralise our tactics made yesterday both very frustrating and a bit boring. At least Spurs and West Brom also dropped points.
Well chaps, been fun, but there's only going to be one winner this afternoon. Time to leave the football thread 'til March. I'll leave you with this. I learned today that the non-Welsh half of that pairing's name translates to "Boy Flowers". That is the best god damn name in football.
Cheerio!
I could be wrong but to keep Everton to a clean sheet is a great achievement since to recollection they have scored in pretty much every game I remember this season. The great Ashley Williams is the second coming of Rio Ferdinand.
See what I did there bitches?
See, unlike the way this thread goes, I will predict a 5-0 scoreline with Van the mothersmurfing man with a hat-trick. WE WILL BEAST OUR WAY TO EPL, YOU HAVE NO PLACE IN OUR LEAGUE!
Even tjhough I am still plastered out of my mind from last night this genuinely was the best I could come up with. Screw you Liverpool
You forgot to corrupt Liverpool to something whacky!

I'm not perfect![]()
Well, that was a rather close game.
Bow before the mighty Javoo!
Could've been a much worse scoreline than that, I'll take it. I quite like Andre Wisdom, and Joe Allen is as bad as Michael Carrick is good.
closer than it needed to be, we should have scored a lot more than one vin the 1st half.
Also Jamie Redknapp's liverpool bias is shameful. Attempting to prove Vidic was offside. Dick
Happy enough with that! Liverpool had a spirited second half but glad we could hold on.
Having £1 on Utd to win 2-1 with RVP to score first... has made it all the sweeter. Taking the missus to Gusto later to spend my winnings. Back for MOTD2 though!
Joe Allen was never that bad when he was back in (SPOILER)I was going to say 'the slums' here, but then... south Wales. Fancy swapping him for Mark Gower?
