Put yourself in the position who got a town role PM.
Excepting cases like Sammy where your role signals the existence of another role, if you have a town role PM, you know the alignment of exactly one (1) player: yourself. Mislynches are bad for town. Selfvoting increases the likelihood of a mislynch of the only person you know to be confirmed town: yourself. If you help lynch yourself, then the town cannot lynch scum the same day, and the town needs to lynch scum to win.
Anything you do that leads to lynching someone you
know is town is by definition antitown.
Although I can see how that logic wouldn't occur to you if you got a scum role PM.
