Saw Django Unchained last night. I quite enjoyed it, but it just didn't quite match up to how his films usually are. They generally deal with redemption/personal quests/revenge, etc, so that was fine. I feel like often Tarantino's films start in the middle and work their way back to tell the beginning of the story, so it was a bit strange to see it just go from start to finish without some crazy twist.
I am completely disappointed by the old-timey western songs and trout that could have been used in this film and that those opportunities were wasted on rap and trout instead
It would have been such a perfect fit!
Best goddamn shootouts I've ever seen, though, tell you what. I really enjoyed watching them sharpshoot. Loved Christoph Waltz, loved Jamie Foxx. And Leonardo DiCaprio, holy trout. Perhaps the best role I've ever seen him in. This is probably old news, but I remember coming across this business about him cutting his hand when the film came out which made it so much more interesting to watch him remain completely and utterly in character during those scenes.
8/10. Well done.
