I have to agree with Shlup; I'm not sure what's to be "ready" for about eating a rare steak. Would it be too much of a shock to his system? Would his senses be so overwhelmed by finally tasting a proper steak after being deprived for his entire lifetime that he could go into cardiac arrest?

If you want to try a rare steak, just eat a rare steak.

Medium rare is fine but other than that the texture is pretty disgusting......but seeing a well done steak is enough to make you cry for the poor cow.
