Tokyo will host 2020 Olympics - ESPN
Last week, the International Olympic Committee selected Tokyo, Japan to host the 2020 Summer Olympics, beating out Madrid, Spain and Istanbul, Turkey. Japan also hosted the 1964 Summer Olympics, which means this will be the second time that Japan will host the games, after a gap of 56 years.
After last year's Summer Olympics in London, England/Great Britain/United Kingdom, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil will host the 2016 Summer Olympics, making it the third Olympiad to be held in the Southern Hemisphere, the first of which outside of Australia, the second in Latin America, the first of which in South America, and the first to be held in a lusophone, or Portuguese-speaking, country.
Considering that there are over one-and-a-half million Japanese people living in Brazil, I think this is a fitting pick for the next host.
In addition to that, next year, in 2014, the Winter Olympics will be held in Sochi, Russia, and Brazil will also host the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
