I can't even explain the effect this movie had on me without feeling gutted.

So good. Best film experience I've had in a long time.

I watched Argo last night and was thoroughly impressed. It's a pretty amazing story and I can't believe it actually happened. The style and costume was perfect for the 1980 setting. I thought they sensationalised the ending to make it super-tense but overall I thought it was excellent.

    Argo smurf yourself.

    9/10

Watched Thor the dark world yesterday and I liked it like all the other Marvel universe movies from last few years. I just dig these superhero movies with their sense of humor (Thor putting Mjolnir on the rack, or the Mjolnir flying across universe forth and back befoe finally getting back in Thor's hands lol). Can't wait for next marvel movie.

8/10 for thor the dark world.

    Perks of Being a Wallflower

Charlie reminded of me... except I never worked up the courage to go and do stuff with people.

    --------

    Justice League: War

I didn't like Superman and Green Lantern's attitudes or Wonder Woman's naivete and felt that Cyborg's new origin story was a bit of a cop-out going the way of Young Justice. Still, a pretty good movie nonetheless. I liked the mid-credits stinger (Ocean Master). I hope for a sequel.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

It was cheesy as smurf, but it was a children's movie so that was to be expected. And it new it was cheesy and had some generally very funny moments.

    I love Spike Jonze.

    Best Man Holiday
    4/10
Felt like a Tyler Perry movie and that's basically an insult. Way to be melodramatic. I think the people who liked this liked it more for nostalgic reasons.

    American Hustle
    6/10
Quippy dialogue but I felt the over the top fake Jersey accents brought me out of the movie. It was also mostly underwhelming. Bale was good as usual. And this film could have done without Amy Adams and her creepy eyes. I found myself trying to laugh rather than actually laughing. Louis C.K. parts were the best.

    Blue Jasmine
    7/10
God this was depressing. Cate Blanchett played the hell out of this role though.

    Don Juan
    8/10
I thought the dialogue was true to life and so were the Jersey accents. Take notes, American Hustle. It was a pretty funny and enjoyable movie.

    Fruitvale Station
    6/10
Could have been a short film and been equally effective. It probably should have just been 20 minutes long. The pacing was too slow and you could tell they were forcibly trying to drag things out to make it feature length. The good thing is that it was well acted. Felt true to life and the actors were subtle enough for me to feel like these are people I know in my own life.

    Oblivion.

I tried watching this the other night but I missed the exposition at the start and had no idea what was going on.

I watched it again this morning and I actually thought it was pretty good. It looked fantastic and I thought the plot developed really well. I would have liked to see someone else in the main role. Tom Cruise is just one of those actors who plays himself really well. I can never distinguish him from any of his films.

It was great to see Jaime Lannister pop up for a while in something else too.

Oblivion was all right. Though I did figure out the entire plot with the exception of (SPOILER)the clones within maybe half an hour if I'm being generous. Once I had that tidbit every single thing fell into place in my brain. I think I watch too much sci-fi. I'm not surprised by a lot these days.

He was really good in Collateral. Though I suppose in that he just played a crazy homicidal version of himself. But it was the least Tom Cruise like he's been while giving a good performance. Aside from Tropic Thunder of course.

Collateral was a really good film, I thought. Even just the start with the cab ride. Jamie Fox and Jada Pinkett-Smith were excellent in that opening scene. Cruise was good but again... I reckon it would have been better with another actor.

    The Fairy

A French film about absolute nonsensical random troute. 0/10. Worst thing I have ever seen in my entire life.

I hate watching movies at family get togethers. They are always terrible, terrible, poor choices.

No, but seriously, hilarious superficial humour, clever surface plot and interesting deeper themes.

Reading a review of the movie 'Her' here so I downloaded it and watched it.

It was kind of depressing but the end brought a tear to my face and a smile. The soundtrack is also nice, love Arcade Fire.

It was alright. Wasn't that funny. Got goofy at the end.

Daylight, a disaster movie starring Sylvester Stallone as Kit Latura, a disgraced former New York City Emergency Medicial Services (EMS) chief who tries to save survivors trapped inside the Holland Tunnel.

    It was not good.

Need to rewatch it because we got crappy seats in the cinema. Film was good, music was better, score was AWESOME. Hans Zimmer and Pharell. Can't beat it.

Watched Frozen on the plane back to the UK. I did think it was very good but I'd expect nothing less from Disney. I don't think it quite lived up to the hype though. Anna and Olaf were the obvious highlights. I did like the song Let It Go but again I expected it to blow me away more than it did. God damn you, hype!

Anyway, I much preferred Tangled. 8/10.

In an attempt to make myself feel more macho after giggling at a princess and a magical snowman, I then watched Lone Survivor. It was pretty brutal in parts, I'm not a huge fan of Mark Wahlberg but the rest of the cast were excellent. I know it was based on a true story but I didn't enjoy some of the injuries they sustained. It gave me a lot of respect for the special forces even if certain parts were embellished from the original story.

    I give it a 7/10.
