    The November Man
    5.5/10

Pierce Brosnan returns as a spy, and the movie was... okay. Some of the early stuff in the flick didn't work for me, and I'm not sure that the plot twists were that believable or interesting, but it was still a relatively entertaining movie to just kill some time. Brosnan still has some charm, and it's nice seeing him in this role, and everyone else did a decent job for the most part, but there were some scenes that just came off as cheesy and some poor delivery of certain lines added to that.

All-in-all though, not a terrible movie. Pre' okay.

    The Expendables 3.

It was a fun movie, but I think the novelty of seeing all these guys is starting to wear off. It's just underwhelming compared to the first, and even the second. It's fun when someone new is introduced like Wesley Snipes, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, and Harrison Ford, but that's all they can do with this franchise. The movie definitely isn't better than the first two and (SPOILER)it was a mistake having the Stallone/Gibson fight on a time limit. They should have saved it afterwards so they had more time to spend on the fight. A few hits and it was over. We may never see these guys in a movie again so that was very disappointing. The Stallone/Van Damme fight was MUCH better.

I agree about The Expendables. They're all good movies, just pure entertainment, but you're right because the novelty is wearing off a bit. None of them are great films, but the first one was thoroughly entertaining because it was like, "Wow, look at all these classic action heroes." Now it's like, "Yeah okay, this should be a decent hour and a half but that's it."

It probably should have stayed one movie, since the teaser said "first and only time." But the second one was needed so we could see more from Schwarzenegger and Willis. One was still governor of California and the other was busy filming another movie so they only had time for one scene, plus Van Damme and Chuck Norris were awesome. I could have lived with there just being two. Or maybe Stallone should have waited for both men to be free before making the first film. I don't know. Christmas is the best character.

Word. I have no more to add to that. So, just, word.

I watched two movies today. I rate things a little higher than most people I think, because I tend to get into things easier, because I don't know, I guess it just takes a lot more for me to hate something than like it, and I'm able to appreciate so much about whatever art form I'm partaking in. I don't know why I'm explaining this.

Anyway I just watched The Rover. I want to just post my Criticker review:
    9/10

I'm still not sick of post-apocalyptic movies, and that's kinda special. This one is incredibly bleak and brutal. It doesn't have some huge plot, no huge conspiracy, just a simple moment in time, a guy chasing down the people who took his car with the help of one of the brothers of the people he's hunting. It's like a snapshot of the post-apocalyptic world, wonderfully acted by the two leads. The violence is much like Drive... intense and sudden, with impact. Great road trip/post-apoc movie.

Since Criticker has a character limit, I'd like to just add that the director of this movie is off to a great start. He's done this and Animal Kingdom and I've loved both. Gave Animal Kingdom an 8.5.

I also watched Killers today as well.
    8.5/10

I found the last couple minutes kind of cheesy and stupid, but the rest of the movie was really great. It explored some really dark psychological trout in an interesting way, such as violence and what drives us to it. The relationship between the serial killer and the journalist is intriguing, the violence is incredibly brutal, and it's shot really well.

It was a good day for movies. It was also a bit of a violent day, I guess.

Having never read the book, I saw Ender's Game last night. I enjoyed it. The last battle thing was cool. The plot was a little predictable though. But it was entertaining.

I'm glad you liked The Rover. I too, thought it was great, but pretty under the radar.

Yeah, it was lovely. I would have watched it sooner had I known who was actually behind it. It kind of struck me as maybe being one of those random movies I find online that end up being either kinda crappy or mediocre, but then a guy I know gave it a glowing review then I actually found out who directed it and I loved Animal Kingdom so it shot up to the top of my list.

I watched the Angry Video Game Nerd movie today because I have a casual interest in him. When he just sits and reviews a game he's pretty clever and entertaining, but when he's doing his plot-based stuff or just chaining swear words together (he doesn't do it as well as the Trailer Park Boys do), he's kind of lame.

Unfortunately, an almost two hour movie just highlights that fact for me. I didn't laugh much, and I really wanted to like the movie because despite having a really low budget, it was clear that a lot of work and passion was put into it. Some of the rips on the low budget nature of the movie were fine, and there was a moment or two that I laughed, but I was mostly bored and thought a lot of the jokes didn't work.

The ending was good though, and him reviewing ET during the credits was nice because it was him doing what he does best. Sadly, I just didn't enjoy the movie.

Where you go and see it at? Is it available online to watch somewhere? No theaters out here to my knowledge are showing it.

Guardians of the Galaxy. It was just good. I felt that a good bit of the humor was trying too hard like when Groot skewered those thugs and repeatedly slammed them around and then looked at the camera. I thought Nebula randomly dropping in and monolauging was cheesy. I also thought that the opening fight could've been done a bit better.

    Battleship.

Best argument ever to break away from the "all movies must be two hours or more" formula that cinema has reached.

Edit the first half hour down to about fifteen minutes, then just attach the entire last thirty five minutes or so of the movie, and you have a fantastic action flick.

I really wish they hadn't thrown in all that filler.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

    Mr. Bunghole's Fantasy Ride

I got tired of all the hype and gave this a spin as I was winding down after work this morning. Basically, take the concept of "Ghostbusters" and put it in "Taken" and you have a pretty good movie. Denzel Washington plays and agent only known by the codename "Mr. Bunghole" who looks for the kidnapped child of wealthy parents. Sounds like "Man on Fire" right? Well, that movie didn't have ghosts cleverly disguising themselves in a haunted theme park attraction!

I don't want to spoil too much, but Washington basically carries this movie with stellar acting. I don't think any other actor, straight faced, can say, "Much like time spent eating spoiled Mexican food, Mr. Bunghole is tired of your s***!" Right after that, there is a cool slow-mo sequence a section of the haunted house blowing up. This apparently kills the ghosts, which is a tad silly, but they do spin this pseudo science crap about how power enough shockwaves disrupt the ether realm enough to dissipate spirits.

Kind of an obscure title, but I recommend it if you can find it.

Okay I finally saw Guardians of Galaxy today (unfortunately in just 2D) and it was really great!

I really loved the humour and how the movie didn't really take itself so seriously so it was also very relaxing to watch. The action scenes weren't as good as in Avengers imo but they weren't bad. There were few moments that I cringed a bit like the dancing and singing to distract that evil dude with Infinity Stone but it didn't ruin it for me.

Also, Rachet and Groot = love.

    Nicely played.

I just watched The Captive, the new flick from a fellow Canadian, Atom Egoyan. I've come to find, after watching I believe 3 or 4 movies that he's directed, that I'm not high on this guy. I apparently liked Felicia's Journey but I don't even remember what it is (I only know I saw it because I rated it on Criticker), and Chloe was okay, but I hated The Captive.

This is a movie about a little girl who gets kidnapped. This should be crushing because this is one of the saddest, most personal tales you can tell in movies, but I felt nothing here. I didn't even care.

First of all, the main villain was just over the top. Everything he did, from his hushed speaking to his appearance just screamed, "Hey look I did it!" I guess in the reality of the movie, you couldn't just pick him up because he looked like a pedo and drag him in, but the irrationality of one of the cops made it pretty clear that this was not a film based in reality. The script let this one down really hard, and I actually like Ryan Reynolds and don't think he did a terrible job... but he couldn't save it.

The one good thing about The Captive is the atmosphere. Snowy Canada is perfect for something like this because it's dark, depressing and symbolic. The film was competently shot, and normally something like that has weight with me but the plot holes and the writing in general was so terrible I just couldn't do it. I can't give this above a 2.5.

    So yeah, 2.5/10.
