Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

"Swordchucks Yo." - Fighter
"Every time I cast Hadoken it siphons a little bit of love out of the world to create a massive destructive explosions. They say the divorce rate goes up with each cast." - BM
How many swords could sword chucks chuck if sword chucks could chuck swords? Same goes with Nuns! :rolleyes2
"I cast Ice-9!" -RM
"I can steal stuff that isn't even there" -Thief (Yet he can't steal in the game)
I was searching up FF1 party combinations and this thread came up! Was thinking of going with the Friren party: Black Mage, Black Mage, White Mage, Fighter.

Will you be playing with the old magic style or a newer system? Black mage never makes my lists because I find they don't have enough spell slots to last, then their damage falls off hard until you can recover them. Having two in a party can counter balance that some or using the later MP system instead of spell slots.

Would go with pixel remaster which I think is the original spell slot system? I never played it using an MP system.

I think you'll be fine with that party as long as you're not playing the NES version. I generally feel that Black Magic in the first game works best if you simply use the offensive spells for tough enemy encounters and save buff spells for boss battles. Once you start getting all of the spell casting items, their utility expands pretty well. The hardest part will obviously be the early game where spell selection is limited and then late game when survivability becomes an issue.
My favorite party combo is Fighter, Monk, Red Mage, and Black Mage. The game becomes very interesting when you don't have a White Mage safety net and the Red Mage's white spell selection is actually not that great. So the game gets a nice layer of challenge without having to do a four of a kind type deal.
True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
