Ok, if Sony was to remake Final Fantasy 7, do you think the price value of the original would go up and make the original more valueable or do you think it would drop?

The remake would presumably be more available, more technicologically impressive, and essentially the same game. If anything, it would make the original version decrease in value, although it already goes for pretty cheap anyway.

With the release of Advent Children, the price for the original VII skyrocketed for a long while until AC died down. I'm pretty sure that a remake would have the original game go up in price as well... there is a slight chance of the original decreasing in value, but since it's already considered a collectors item to many, so it probably won't. Original Non-Greatest Hits will most likely always stay up there in price and factory sealed will always be insanely expensive imo.

If anything, I would say that after the next couple generations a VII remake will probably raise in price as well.(Well, depending on many factors as well)

It could make the value go up because a lot of people playing the remake of FFVII for the first time or others that dont have the original anymore will want to play it to see what it was like/or to see it again:) It wont go up a lot though, just on places like ebay there will probabaly be a lot more bids for some time.

I can't see the value increasing as nearly everybody has played it anyway.

If they made a remake chances are that a lot of new gamers would get to play FFVII in this new version, and then because of them realizing what an amazing game it is (and also because they're a bunch of geeks) they'd want to own the original version of the game. The value would definitely go up.

It happened to Tactics just before the greatest hits version came out. Funcoland tried to sell me a used copy of the original version for 90 bucks. I laughed at them and got a brand new copy a week later for 20.

Though Funcoland has long since died off, so I dunno if there's many more game stores that would try to jack the price like that. Probably only some idiots on E-Bay.

I don't know if you could compare Tactics with VII. The popularity of VII completely shadows over Tactics. Not to mention, in the case of VII, the black label editions sell for higher than the greatest hits. And even with all of the PC versions selling online, the price for the original black labeled VII is still high up there. It's not so much high in price because FFVII as a game is hard to find, it's high in price because the original playstation game is a collectors item now.

You'll find people on ebay selling their FFVII's and the ones that sell for the most money are the ones that are complete(nothing missing), good conditioned discs, and original black label with the floating I on the back insert. The greatest hits still sells for a high price(usually about how much VII sold for when it first came out, which is still higher than how much the greatest hits first sold for) and is still considered a collectors item, but not nearly as much as the black label version.

Either way, anyone can dish out $20 for the PC version(or even get it for free online) but the demand for the original PS version is still high despite the availability of the other ways to obtain it.
