So you're in the shinra building. You sneak into the bathroom and eavesdrop on all the big guys at Shinra talk about their new plans. Then Hojo comes in and he's like "Yeah so Aeris is really important. She's absolutely the last now that her mom, who was still better than her but she's better than nothing, had died. Just thought I'd let you guys know."

Cool. We know where Aeris is. They won't hurt her. They need her to find the promised land. That is their huge super goal. She is the most important thing of the century.

Then you go to lvl 68 and bust in on Hojo and his little experiment. He says something about these two endagered species that he has to save. And then he just throws a wild dog in there with Aeris.

What the fuck.

Okay so, MAYBE he knows Red is a talking thinking centient animal. There's a good chance of that. But EVEN if that was the case, what is the point of putting them in a cage together. Why even take a /chance/. Just because he can talk doesn't mean he isn't still wild right?

He wanted to "breed" a more docile test subject. The experiment wasn't going to be finished in Aerith's lifetime, so he decided to be a sick bastard and smack out two flies with one punch.

Yea they censored safe sex by filtering out condom machine but somehow forgot to remove the part about how beastiality and interspecies (I know thats not the right word) breeding is totally a good solution.

It is odd that Hojo would put a "wild" animal in with her in hopes of breeding, considering that the two species know nothing about each other, how they court the opposite sex, etc... My guess is that if they went into the science of artificial insemination that it would have gone over a lot of gamers heads and this also helped to showcase Hojo's madness.

Good points. Japanese audience probably would've had no problem with it. Their solution would probably be to just look it up anyway. Whereas in the US, we weren't really that into dictionaries, encyclopedias, and the internet just yet.

Hojo likely knew that Red XIII wasn't as feral as he tried to portray and probably didn't expect anything to really happen in that cage. But he was a sick psycho and was likely just having fun.

Anyway, I understand that Hojo is sick and probably has some weird :skull::skull::skull::skull: in his head. But he never said anything about having Aeris and the dog mate. He referred to helping endangered species, but trying to /mix/ species isn't exactly the same as saving endagered species. /If/ he were trying to mix species, then logically he would know about genetics. If that was the case and he was trying to rescue a species, cloning would be a lot more efficient than hybriding, amirite? So I don't exactly buy the thing about him trying to make them mate. The whole situation still doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

In the original timeline of VII, Shin-Ra was a military weapons developer until a few years before VII started when they discovered Mako. Hence Heidegger and Scarlet being there, cause god knows an energy company still needs to be developing weapons and funding their own private army, while supplying good clean energy to every household on Gaia :rolleyes2

They were still in the process of converting (wrong word, but who knew their army would still be useful) over to a more legitimate business during the time frame of the original VII timeline. Its not surprising they would still have their top scientist from the Super Soldier projects there, especially when they discover their original military experiment could lead them to greater fortunes by coincidence.
