Our dear Noctiluca is growing sick of being depressed most of the time, now he wants to be depressed all of the time. This means that every time he starts getting all warm inside or when he gets his paycheck, he needs a sad song to bring him back down to a safe level. He needs your help, ladies and gentlefellows!
What are some of your favourite sad songs, or just songs that make you the most sad?

Most of the songs from Antony and the Johnsons' first two albums are sad songs, and they're all very beautiful.
Try giving a listen to "Cripple and the Starfish" and "Man is the Baby", just for examples.

Also Teardrop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yftOy8kz7aE&feature=related) and Live with Me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LgrGHWSy6k) but really as much.

Moon by Yoko Kanno.
It's beautiful. Sung in a language the composer (Yoko Kanno) made up herself. It's...beautiful.

A good many songs on the Wish album by The Cure manage to be pretty sad/depressing. To name a few: Apart, From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, Trust, A Letter to Elise, and To Wish Impossible Things.

Friends (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YIW_KY8dy8&feature=related) by Yoko Kanno
Fixed. That person also has 'Escape' as 'Esukeipu'. Gah.
Moon by Yoko Kanno.
It's beautiful. Sung in a language the composer (Gabriela Robin) made up herself. It's...beautiful.
She knows what's up! Fixed, though (lol in-jokes). There are like 6 versions of the song, vocalized or otherwise. They are all fantastic. Origa performed it during the live concert. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeUitrD9CYg) I'm willing to bet that you haven't even seen Turn A Gundam, but that just shows how good the music is.
I could poke through my collection another time, *maybe*, but off the top of my head 'Arcadia' from Escaflowne (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXB90w2ZVVg) (also by Yoko Kanno) is another relative downer of a song.
Something else that comes to mind is 'Elegy' from Dragon Quest IV by Koichi Sugiyama (first part of this performance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFIy9RAoToI), before it switches to the other song @ 2:50) (8 bit version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FLD_y4svy8))
If you are interested, do try to find 'better than YouTube quality' versions of these songs. It kind of breaks my heart to share these in this manner, but it is the easiest way to do it.

The video for that song is sad, yet creepy.

Sorry JKTrix, all I could find was the Youtube, and I agree about the quality of some of them. Also, thank you for finally giving me a title for that track. I've been wondering for years and was too lazy to look it up.

When the Tigers Broke Free - Pink Floyd
Everything about that song is great and sorrowful. I think it makes me even sadder that it was actually written by Waters portraying his father's death in the war.

Ok heres a few songs I love to listen to when I'm down or if I'm in the mood for some depressing music:
Goodnight ~ Dry Kill Logic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFNRWr_g6bI) This used to be a song I'd sing when getting my nephew to go sleep he loved me singing the vocals on this song so much so that he'd fall asleep in a few mins of me doing so.
You look so fine ~ Garbage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaK4xo8GKvw&feature=related) The acoustic is much more sad but the original is pretty sad too.
Somewhere ~ Within Temptation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6QE4EJrIFc&feature=related) I have to admit that this isn't my favourite video for it but I love the song it's got "that" quality to it that makes you choke up.
I got like a million sad songs, I pretty much listen to sad songs all the time. I tend to find when I'm down I listen to sad music to cheer myself up.

Same, I really hate her version of the song. They made it sound too uplifting and epic when that's really not what the song is about.
