- We're talking about a journey that probably went like this :
Besaid - Kilika - Thunder plains - Macalania Temple - Al Bhed Home - Bevelle - Calm Lands - Zanarkand. (They're referring to the lines respectively, except for the 2 last ones).
So ALL this journey will give us immunity and stamina like a diety.
If it weren't about TP and Home the answer would have been the Aeons.
Oh wait...it's not the sphere grid is it?
(then perhaps the first line refers to the origin of the sphere grid rather than Besaid - origin of yuna's pilgrimage)

That is indeed the correct answer! Varuna's drop down when they 'dive' into battle and they cast Haste immediately. When you bribe them it's the funniest thing: they don't run or walk away, they just glide or float off into the distance, not moving a muscle. Looks crazy! And last but not least: 3 million gil gives you 30 of one of the rarest healing items in the game: megalixirs.

I want to say the Aeons, if I remember correctly, you have to beat each of them. Of course, the last time I played X-2 was about 5--6 years ago. X gets a spin almost yearly. I also don't feel like pulling out my strategy guide for it... it's buried somewhere in the house.

The whole thing makes me think of Seymour. Especially the treason line; the party is often accused of treason after killing Seymour.

The fifth line makes me think that what is referred lies at the end of a difficult dungeon... Omega Ruins and Via Infinito come to mind. However the seventh line is what perplexes me. Take the helm and approach me? When in FFX or X-2 does there ever appear a helm at all? Maybe in the Dark Knight costumes? Or is he referring to the type of enemy? The third line on the other hand makes me think that the person/thing referred is a traitor, like Omega, or the strongest of his kind but not really a 'leader', like Penance. Final Judgement in the last line makes me think of Penance and his instant kill Judgement Day attack too. Wait... maybe the shadows refer to the Dark Aeons. But the helm line still doesn't make any sense. I'm confused...

It's implied/explained that the Dark Aeons and Penance appeared because of the group defying Yevon. Most of the Dark Aeons are summoned by summoners who believe that Yuna is a traitor.

"Leader" translated into German is "Führer". In the Japanese version (and some European versions too), Penance is called "Der Richter", German for "The Judge". So he's not a Führer (leader), he's something else.

Again refers to his Japanese name being "The Judge".

You have to defeat all the Dark Aeons to face Penance.
