It truly is glorious how objectified the dude is. The tumblr post makes a fair point. I wonder if this was an intentional subversion of the barely there female armor trope.

Haha, before I even read any comments I was just thinking: "Now, this is an objectified male!" Baby steps to a bit of balance.

My favourite screen-capped quote on the blog is something like "This would have looked fine on a girl. Some costumes just aren't supposed to be worn by males." I think this is the point where we can rest our case on that one.

I'm more likely to play this game now than I was five minutes ago. I dunno if I have a homosexual gaze I didn't know about that is being pandered to or what, but I think these screenshots are great XD

On another note, it's nice to finally have someone to cosplay as.

yeah this armor is a bit off putting, interesting to see it on a male for a change though

I like how his entire sides are exposed, save for a few straps. You can clearly see he has no underwear. I'm glad we're finally seeing some equality in that regard. Personally, I really don't get why people are so disgusted by this. Straight women often admit to considering other women attractive. If I see another man and I can see that he is attractive, or that this particular piece of armor attracts attention to some bits as fan service, I can admit it, appreciate it, and move on, without the fear of turning gay or something. It's unfair that this is considered unacceptable attire for a videogame character, since games have for the longest time been anything but a straight male-only playground.

Also, Fox - if you do cosplay as this, give us pics! :D Because I really doubt anyone alive can pull this look off.

Yeah if I hadn't noticed he'd been banned for it I would have put together a snarky reply for him ^^

He's pretty cute but that armor isn't very armory.

But then again this is final fantasy so any amount of armor can block any amount of force so it's no problem!
