Every game forum has it nowadays! Remember, you can only make a riddle after you got the correct answer to another one.
I'll start then.
Mocked too many times
I was in the orphanage as well
Along with all the others
And him
Later in the days
He made a new rival
But I still hate him
Who am I?

Okay I've completely forgotten then name of it, but the boss on the train in Timber. I think it was a fake Mayor.
You will see true power,
In the third of all, (I think it's the third boss in the game after Ifrit and Elvoret, if you don't count Diablos)
Two parts make it up, (The fight has two sections)
The first, a fearsome magic, (This is the second part so I'm sceptical)
The second, a fearsome man, (The man it impersonates, this is actually the first part of the fight though)
Together, they create me.
I'm fairly sure this is wrong even though it fits pretty well, but I'm too tired to think about it.
Ultima Shadow
07-20-2004, 11:09 PM
Omega Weapon, simply because of the two-part thing but I think Ash is rigth.
PhoenixAsh
07-21-2004, 06:53 PM
Oh! Okay I can't remember the details to this so I can't remember a) if this is from VIII, b) how it fits the rest of the riddle, c) if it's something I made up.
Meteor Barret?

Ah logic, so much less effective than lucky guessing :D.
Okay think I'll keep it easy till the thread picks up.
They came in like they did for Noah,
So they're leaving that way too.
But once there gone not silence comes,
But something out the blue.
Theres things between to set the scene,
And get past what he fears.
Now all I ask to solve this task,
Is what pray do you hear?
Triple T
07-22-2004, 07:34 PM
Is it Laguna?
PhoenixAsh
07-23-2004, 06:25 PM
No and no, Doomsday, I think I see your logic, don't read to much into 'out the blue', that sentence isn't a pun, it's just means out of nowhere and rhymes.
FightClubFan#47
07-23-2004, 07:08 PM
random guess irvine
They came in like they did for Noah(idk, squalls party came in on a train)
So they're leaving that way too.(they left on a train)
But once there gone not silence comes, But something out the blue.(Edea takes over)
Theres things between to set the scene,(the things between is edea taking over galbadia and edea capturing rinoa and the scene is irvine has to assassinate edea)
And get past what he fears.(he fears that he will miss the shot at edea, but does it ne wayz)
PhoenixAsh
07-23-2004, 09:25 PM
Well that was a very random guess... and it missed off part of the riddle... and I'm not really sure what the logic behind the train was... okay it's not Irvine.
Though yay for actually breaking your answer down, I can't really give hints if you get close if I don't know what you're thinking.

But once there gone not silence comes,
But something out the blue.
Theres things between to set the scene,

Now all I ask to solve this task,
Is what pray do you hear?
Line 1/2. Monsters coming from the Moon and raining on Earth. I forget what it's called, but Lunatic Pandora and the Space Station had something to do with it. Oh yeah, Rinoa was possessed to unseal Adel.
Line 3-6. The random Ragnarok ship? Whatever else happened between then and getting Rinoa back? His fear being losing her?
I guess this refers to a song, so "Eyes on Me"?
Um, wow. I thought I had the knowledge to answer this question, but I haven't played FFVIII in forever.

So once more princeofdarknez flukes the correct answer to one of my riddles :P.
They came in like they did for Noah,
So they're leaving that way too. (leave two by two - Propagators)
But once there gone not silence comes,
But something out the blue. (The song itself randomly put into the scene)
Theres things between to set the scene,
And get past what he fears. (The scene in the cockpit and getting past Squall's fear of getting close to people)
Now all I ask to solve this task,
Is what pray do you hear? (Name the song)
I totally forgot about this thread. :( SORRY!!! :p I really don't know anything about FFVIII, though... but here goes - an easy one to get this thread rolling again.
I see up, I see down, I see and I run all around.
When I do find what I'm looking for,
I fight with it and use it up and then run around some more.
Where am I?

Once I'm free

Half of the adventure
Was wasted on a pawn (Disc one and two)
A part of the past
Of the fated children (Matron)
Once I'm free (Out of Ulti's control)
I give my wings
To someone else (Rinoa)
So Edea, if I'm right I give my go to someone else because I might not be back for a couple of days.

Ok well if no one minds I'll take the turn?
This is most likely easy, but it just came to mind.
I take you there
I take you back
I see you now
But you don't see me
I send you back
I will help send you forth
With the one you want
To avenge the one who wants no one at all

Drive to the end of the world.
See what lies there.(deep sea research center)
Readiness and preparation are vital.(the bosses there are hard)

The Final Form

Hey that's because I dropped obvious hints 'cause I thought it was annoying that they were taking so long!

Very abstract logic here... The Chocobo Shrine?
Strangely
The Final Form (It's the last you need to go to)
Though I look
Nothing like the form before me (It isn't the hunting game, it's a load of dancing chocobos)
I am considered sacred? (It's a shrine)
Well I have met the President (Forest Gump... It's a forest)
The structure of this riddle makes me think this is a lot trickier than it looks, but I'm tired so I'll think about it later.
Trumpet Thief
08-01-2004, 02:55 AM
Nope. You will be angered by how ridiculously obvious the answer to this riddle is. Heh, Ansem, you are not the only one who can stump people for a long period of time on riddles. (Or eternity, which ever sounds better)
Nope. You will be angered by how ridiculously obvious the answer to this riddle is. Heh, Ansem, you are not the only one who can stump people for a long period of time on riddles. (Or eternity, which ever sounds better)
Phoenix does a good job stumping people too. I'd like to think that I've done a couple good ones, but I'm not as frequent with the big stumpers, I admit. *regrets releasing the Zen hint on that one riddle *
Strangely
The Final Form
Though I look
Nothing like the form before me
I am considered sacred?
Well I have met the President
How about just The Sorceress? You know, as in, the general descendants of Hyne, doing all that bunches of stuff. The first couple lines are about the final fight with Ultimecia, the fifth line refers to being descendants of a god, and the last is Edea meeting the President.
Trumpet Thief

Nope! *Stops hand from typing* Nooooo.... No hints!
Lord Xehanort

Hold on... is the President mentionmed here Deling, or Laguna?
Trumpet Thief
08-01-2004, 10:24 PM
I give no hints...
Edit: Ow Screw this, I'm just too lenient...
Hint: "What? How dare you insult it with it's nice burning red hair..."
Oh yeah, Moombas. They're crazy descendants of something or another in FFVIII, and that's why they look nothing like the form before them. I think the Shumi consider them sacred. And they met Laguna, who is president of Esthar.
If this is right, I pass. As I've said in the other riddle threads, I'm out of good ones, so to whoever.
If it's wrong, well, damn. :D
Trumpet Thief
08-01-2004, 11:00 PM
Correct. Moomba's are the Final Forms of Shumi's. Weird eh? And Shumi's have met President Laguna. That's why the Moomba's kept going "Laguna!" to Squall in prison.
You don't have to go if you want to, but I will award you with 13 Rubey Points for getting the answer. In case you wanna know how to get these useless points which many people are already giving out, I start off with a hundred points. When someone guesses, and they get the wrong answer, I divide it by the 100 points by the type of guesses. Say there were two guesses, then I divide the points by half, and then give it to the person who got the right answer. In your case, there were seven guesses, so you get 13 Rubey Points! Congrats!
They are given in Quote Quizzes, Trivia, and Riddles.

Since PoD passed, I'll take the next riddle.
Keeling over, side by side
In splendid company
Reaped of expression
Out of my chest... nothing
So now alone, I spend my days.
With horrible posture
Amidst the greatest of danger
Rolling slashes from twins
Devastate my foes
Out of this backward thought
Is a missing link
Do you have a clue?
Or are you drowning in thought?
Well that sucked!

PhoenixAsh

kiros. or PhoenixAsh is right.
Seeing as you have poorly encoded Kiros and Ward down the side of your first two verses, without really reading your riddle at all, I'll answer Laguna as well. :D You gotta at least scramble the lines to make it more difficult, or translate all the opening letters by a certain amount, maybe even the number of lines present in the verse.
I mean, NO MORE TRICKS OUT OF MY BAG FOR YOU!!!
Oh, that's what the hint was referring to? :exdee:
Numberman, use the spoiler tags next time. [ spoiler ] and [ / spoiler ]
Lord Xehanort
08-05-2004, 08:44 PM
Okay, so PA got the missing link as Laguna. Bravo. However, keep in mind that I didn't say that all I wanted was the missing link. Each verse describes a different person. What are the other two, in order?
PhoenixAsh
08-05-2004, 10:48 PM
Okay, I actually don't want to post the next riddle, but did I just get wrong answered because I said Kiros, Ward and Laguna instead of Ward, Kiros and Laguna?
Lord Xehanort
08-06-2004, 06:14 PM
PA now corrected his answer and gets to go. It was Ward, Kiros, then Laguna.
PhoenixAsh
08-06-2004, 07:44 PM
Right... I'm a tad confused, but nevermind. Sorry Doomsday, I'm taking a break from coming up with riddles, I'll return to writing them when things get too repetitive or I get bored.
Wow. That's kinda... lame. (Not you, PA.)
PhoenixAsh

Shumi Village.
Home to not but a few, (There’s only about ten Shumi you can meet)
In the frost of the north, (It’s in the North…)
Man and beast live there, (Shumi and Moombas if you call them men)
Underneath the world, (Down the elevator)
See it to believe it. (It’s fairly impressive architecture, and full of strange beings)
Also the left hand side is an anagram of Shumi.
This doesn’t help speed the thread sadly as I’m not writing riddles at the minute, so sorry if I’m right, next person go.
Lord Xehanort
08-09-2004, 12:26 AM
Wow. That's kinda... lame. (Not you, PA.)
The reason I wanted them in order was because the riddle specifies the backward thoughts. Thus, the one that say Kiros down the side is about Ward and vice versa.
Okay, I'll buy that. :)
Erm, I don't have a good FFVIII riddle handy. Pass. :p

Line 3/4 - probably the R=U theory.
Line 5/6 - referring to Ellone reaching into the past and trying to change it, but failing.
I'll go abstract and just say "the past".
Lord Xehanort
08-15-2004, 07:56 PM
Sorceress?
Just by knowing the name
You can tell what it is about (sorceress= having something to do w/ sorcery)
It supports the theory
And is truly inevitable (magic is a theory, and Edea obtaining Ulti's power was inevitable)
One girl tried to change it
Yet she failed (Ellone wanted to alter the past, but got screwed over)

Hey! My answer made a lot of sense!
Anyway...
Flowing and ceasing
Crisp and clear
Into the crest
From the high point near
Sweeping the skies
As if from a story
Long and then vacant
In fleeting glory
Only a moment
Can it be seen
Must've been purged
Somewhere off screen
It's everywhere, then gone
In the blink of an eye
In a swift costume change
Worthy of a spy
What say you?
ChaosCalibur
08-15-2004, 10:03 PM
Bahamud or Eden?
Is it talking about the Sorceress fights in the beginning of Disc IV? They change costume here and there, and they flow in and out of battle. They float off screen before more come in, so one can assume they are purged off-screen.

Lunar Cry?
Lord Xehanort
08-16-2004, 08:14 PM
Kounetsu: Nope.
Ansem: Let's tell 'em.
Both: The answer is: Edea's Hair
Flowing and ceasing- It's frickin' long, the vanishes
Crisp and clear- the graphics of this CG are crisp and clear
Into the crest- it disappears in her crest/crown/headdress/thing
From the high point near- it actually flows from a higher place
Sweeping the skies- more on being long and flowing
As if from a story- so beautiful
Long and then vacant- more on the change
In fleeting glory- gorgeous hair swiftly vanishes
Only a moment- see below
Can it be seen- combine with previous line, it's only there for a moment
Must've been purged- 'purge' can mean 'clean', her hair is very clean
Somewhere off screen- you never see her wash it
It's everywhere, then gone- really big hair, then nothing
In the blink of an eye- happens fast
In a swift costume change- again, this happens very fast
Worthy of a spy- spies change costumes just as fast
the hint: Prime Frisbee, was meant like this:
A synonym of 'prime' is 'first'
A synonym of 'frisbee' is 'disc'
So... 'First Disc'
Ansem: Next poster can go.

Alrighty, lets see, this is my first FFVIII riddle....(and thanks for your patience)
One plus one does not equal one
It must be two for it to be true
More effort equals more you have won
Just as two is a quite too few
An easy but large task to be done
But you'll be higher when you're new
Among those optimally at or near none
This one should be higher than two
And you would be granted with perfection
At least in a fifth of what you do

Okay I thought that had been cracked, so lemme just check, does the fifth part mean you get 100 in one scoring element in Cid's office after the Dollet mission?
I can't work out which element, so I'll guess at judgement and the whole timer on Ifrit's Cave deal.

Okay, so it's part of the Dollet mission, and is one of the five categories that you score in:
My guess will be the category: Attitude, whereas, if you talk to more than one person (Seifer), then you lose points.
Very nice riddle, by the by.

Thanks
And you are incorrect. The less people you talk to (except Seifer), the higher your score is. So if you speak to no one (none) you get a 100. Not the right one.

Most random and ridiculous guess ever because I looked at this for ages and kept thinking about cards.
A simple expression (It's a cheap tactic)
A double duet (Squall and Rinoa/ Seifer and Edea (which are won from Edea and Cid))
Four of the same (Each card is strong on one corner)
Alike in the set (As above)
At the top of the list (First cards you'd pick)
Except for the guardian (Sorceress' Knight - Seifer)
Who is eternal and lost (He isn't killed after several fights, but he never returns to the group)
He can break this clan (He's the only 'bad guy' in the player cards)
I did return to check by the way, but there was only one guess. It was wrong and had no reasoning to explain the logic so I waited for more attempts.
Lord Xehanort
09-07-2004, 12:45 AM
Kounetsu: *laughs hysterically* Not even close!

Ok gonna have a shot, probably way off, but all I could think of...
A simple expression - Squall smiling
A double duet - Rinoa also smiles that makes two
Four of the same - I guess at the end , the other four smile as well?
Alike in the set - They are all alike in that expression.
At the top of the list -- Yea...
Except for the guardian - Odin
Who is eternal and lost - Seifer Killed him.
He can break this clan - Have no idea?
Lord Xehanort
09-15-2004, 08:46 PM
Kounetsu: Hey! They didn't give up on us! And Albedo vanished! *happy dance*
Ansem: Sorry I'm so late, guys. Computer's been on the fritz. I'll give up my riddle. The answer is: 9999.
A simple expression - mathematically, 9999 is called an expression
A double duet - 9999 is two duets (99 and 99)
Four of the same - 9999 is four 9's
Alike in the set - all are the same digit
At the top of the list - Top=maximum=highest damage you can do
Except for the guardian - Eden
Who is eternal and lost - Eternal Breath and the lost garden of Eden
He can break this clan - Eden can break the damage limit of 9999
Next poster can go.

Ah! it took me 7 hours but I got it you're Ultimecia()
Luthien
11-22-2004, 01:59 PM
I´m afraid not... and certainly it´s not NEO... Why do you think it´s Ultimecia?
Here´s a clue: when thou need help, who do you claim?

To me...the way The One is typed, usually that refers to a higher being, like God...saying you pray to Him...
But in FFVIII, I don't remember any praying going on, so I'm guessing it's either Squall (because of a main character) or God...because of her clue, "when thou need help, who do you claim"...and usually one will say "please God help me"
(i'm probably definately wrong on this)

No, you´re definitely right... but you are missing the name of the God...

i'm gonna guess Hyne (though i don't think hyne is mentioned in ff8!)
otherwise it has to be a GF. (don't ask me which one!)

the only thing that i can think of that's closest to it...would have to be Eden(if it's a GF)

You`re right, it`s Hyne, and, yes he is mentioned in FFVIII, because he`s the creator of the world, and the sorceress are so powerful, because they have a piece of Hyne´s power.
Kathryn

I got the idea sorry I was playing the game and I thought it was I wasn't really thinking

of Fifty-two;
Who am I?
Halenite
11-29-2004, 05:41 PM
Possibly the King (queen) of cards?
the fifty-two could be referring to a deck of playing cards.
Dark Ekonis
11-29-2004, 08:53 PM
Close, but be more specific, as to who the (king or Queen is)

Hidden eternal
atop the castle
i am the strongest
to ever battle.
See if anyone can get this.
Dark Ekonis
11-30-2004, 06:29 PM
I would say ultima weapon is the hardest to battle, but tiamat is atop the castle, but my answer is Ultimecia because she is the last battle-well griever is the last battle and harder then ultimecia, so griever is my final answer...
Halenite
11-30-2004, 08:53 PM
All of those are close, especially Ultima Weapon. *hint*
FatedChild
11-30-2004, 10:37 PM
Omega Weapon?
Halenite
11-30-2004, 10:40 PM
Bingo, he's near the top of Ultemecia's castle
he is hidden
he is most often considered the strongeest boss
Dark Ekonis
12-01-2004, 02:07 PM

Oh is it griever, the ring thing that Squall has, cos he gives it to Rinoa and then you have to fight it when you're against Ultimecia
~SilverWings~

Lol, I gots to come up with some harder riddles....... :p

I'm terrible at thinking of riddels so this'll have to do:
Every month I arrive
To help you on your way
You'll need lots of items
But you'll also have to pay.
What am I??
~SilverWings~
12-22-2004, 10:08 PM
The weapons monthly magazines!!!
Every month I arrive: hence the name
To help you on your way: makes you stronger, helps you beat the game
You'll need lots of items: well, you do!
But you'll also have to pay: upgrading also costs money
Okay, another easy riddle coming up, lol. I think I'm right with my guess, if not then just discout this :p
A place of memories; sacrificed
A place you'll return to more than twice.
Free the world from grip of fear,
Your past and future both meet here.
Right, chances are that I wont be able to post up when the next poster gets it right (which they undoubtedly will) so the answer is at the bottom of the post. You really shouldn't need it though, if you know your FF8 :D
No cheating now!
The Orphanage. (See, i told you it was easy didnt I!)
Future Esthar
12-23-2004, 03:46 AM
Orphanage.Their memories were about events here. You return there many times. It´s where the evil foe was defeated .They went there through time compression (past and future meets).
Now mine-
I am like the flower over the mountain.
Without me the game can´t exist.
Without me the game can´t end.
Without me the chicken can´t catch the bus to the raining place.
Something interesting Roger would say about me.
Maybe i will sleep so the answer is in the Spoiler tag (try not to cheat).
Doc Odine
Dark Ekonis
12-23-2004, 03:55 PM
is it doc odine, without him Ulti can't posses edea, you can't achieve time compression to end the game, he is an interesting fella, and I don't know about the bus.

Well...Dark Ekonis...I think you're right....
So why dont you make another riddle...? It's your turn...I think...
