How do you rank the Final Fantasy games in terms of Difficulty?

I'm slowly making my way through the FF games, including the Chrono series. What are the hardest/easiest/inbetween games?

4 is hard to beat. 2 is hard to play. 6 is a lot of fun, despite being somewhat easy. 1 is my favorite, but it won't be yours. 5 is long and 3 is approximately mediocre and can only be found on a rom anyway.

I thought the hardest were FFV and IV, and VI if you are doing a challenge on it. The easiest would have to be FFIX and VIII, but they are still pretty good games. The not so tough, not so easy game to me would be FFVII.

So far, I've played FF's 4,7,8,9,10,X-2. 4, as I've said on other threads, I got to Zeromus, got stuck, and decided to get round to starting again so I can train my characters better. I'm still trying to find time. FF4 is the most difficult FF I've played, the others were rather easy as far as I'm concerned. I like FF, don't get me wrong, but 4 is the only one I've played so far which has actually been a challenge for me. I have high hopes for FF's 1,2,3,5&6 cause they're from the same era as 4 and are likely to be as challenging as 4. Overall, the series in it's current incarnations is not difficult in the least.

* = FF2 is actually really easy if you hit your own guys or use the action-cancel trick.
** = FF1's difficulty depends on your party. 4 White Mages probably make FF1 the hardest FF whereas something like Fi/Fi/Wm/Bm makes the game relatively easy. The Easy difficulty of FF Origins also makes the game really easy.

Is FF8 really that easy? I had some trouble with FF7 in certain spots, especially in the last parts of the game (although I didn't spend a lot of time leveing).

The problem is I only have the PC version of the game, so I can't take advantage of emulator's save features, which can be a pain sometimes.

I can't put FF3j on there, as I have not played it, and I don't feel that FFXI, FFT, FFTA or FF:CC fit in there as they're sort of different.

Ridiculously easy. You can win 99.9% of fights by summoning over and over again, which is a synch 'cause there's no MP. You collect spells which work like charges, you use a charge once and its gone, and when you run out of charges for a spell, you can't use it untill you get more. Not that you need spells other that for healing perhaps, but items can do that, and the salary system gives you heaps of money even at the start of the game if you play even marginally well. As I said, you can win almost all the time with summons as long as you remember to heal. The end boss was slightly more difficult, but was still easy compared to even ordinary bosses from earlier games as long as you caught on to the trick for that fight.

That's another thing I forget, late on in the game, you can draw infinite amounts of Aura's if you know where to look, and then you can use limit breaks *cough*Wishing Star*cough* as much as you like. That's how I beat the end boss. Plus, as soon as you refine the Laguna card, you can make yourself invincible using Hero items. I guess my way was just one easy way to win in this easy game.

V was the hardest for me. I and II were also a challenge. IV was more difficult than the rest. Tactics gave me trouble a couple times. The others were all about the same.
