What if Aeris was killed by Cloud but not Sephiroth?

As far as I know, Sephiroth had at least 2 chances to kill Aeris by manipulating Cloud.

Scene 1: Temple of Ancients
Cloud attacked Aeris after giving Black Materia to Sephiroth.

Scene 2: Forgotten Capital/Forgotten City (The end of Disc 1)
Cloud raised his sword (huh?) just before Aeris died stabbed by Sephiroth.

Perhaps, Cloud didn’t love Aeris, that’s why he could even be controlled by Sephiroth to kill her if possible. Then again, how could he be stopped by his comrades at that time? I bet that he somehow loves…

Discuss: What if Aeris was killed by Cloud but not Sephiroth? There are a number of possibilities, who knows?

2) It wouldn't really change the game much.
3) Jenova killed Aeris, not Sephiroth. Jenova took the form that Cloud would despise the most.

I think that Marlene should never have existed and that instead, Aeris was the light that made Barret anything but a maniac with gun-arm. Then later, after Barret develops "feelings" for Aeris, she is not killed but transformed into a younger (child) version of herself and he is forced to discard his romantic feelings to care for her more as his daughter. Meh. :p

I’m more interested on what will become of Cloud thereafter. Will Cloud attempt suicide to atone for his action? Will he become a confirmed bachelor? Basically, we’re going to talk about his would-be changed personalities and complicated relationship with the others.

I wish you will play as Cloud on the situation mentioned. What’s your reaction then? It’s a role-play game after all.

If I was Cloud, I’d have died during the battle with Jenova Life (because I’d already given up hope, or possibly I was shot by furious Barret). Or else, I'd have chosen to commit suicide, and leave the rest to my realiable comrades... RIP :(

If i was Cloud, i woulda been happy for myself that i finally was able to kill off an unnecessary team member. then i would be like "oh, crap, we better prevent meteor from being summoned" (assuming that i killed aeris before meteor was summoned) and the rest of the party would agree with me. they'd be like yeah alright sweet aeris is dead whoo! and now we can go kill sephiroth easier because she won't be in the way making us do stupid chores and making us waste time by trying to get her strong and get her freaking level 4 limit break! then we'd all be off to kill sephiroth before he could summon meteor. sure, the game wouldn't be as long and eventful, but it gets the job done. but if i could REALLY control the game, i woulda killed off aeris and recruited Sephiroth as my team member. this is how it would go:

Sephy: hey... you guys killed aeris?
me (cloud): yeah. she sucked.
Sephy: I KNOW RIGHT! i was gonna kill her later but u guys did it already! sweet!
me: really? awesome! hey you wanna join our party? we're pretty much invincible now that aeris isn't holding us back and isn't making me dress up like a girl!
Sephy: yeah definitely!! the only reason i was going to summon meteor was to kill aeris anyway.

I hope you’re not kidding. I see. You’re very fond of Sephiroth; that’s why you don’t understand he’s your ultimate enemy, and you even wanted to recruit him. Even though you knew the story well, you weren’t able to appreciate the game, esp. character development. I’m not saying you must completely become like them, just hope that we can play as them. The important thing is to mimic their actual characteristics so that to experience the role-play games better; btw, costume play & battle are just kid stuff. I like kid stuff though.


2) It wouldn't really change the game much.
Possible, it depends on the actions of Cloud. If you're Cloud, what'll you do? And, it has nothing to do with the actual game play.

Well, that was just MY opinion. If Square's writers had actually written the story that way, then you wouldn't, nay couldn't, dare to refute it. It's not like we're actually suggesting a re-write here. I was just bein' funny.

Call me a newb, but I never made the connection that it was Jenova... I knew it couldn't be Seph himself per-se 'cause he was locked up in a mako-cicle during most of the game. I always thought it was one of the clones running around being Seph himself. But then eventually I realized that the clones were not meant to turn into exact copies of Seph. They were just attempts to be LIKE Seph. After that I just sorta shrugged everything off as plot holes >_> But now it makes sense...

I killed Aeris today. It's totally not my faujlt tho i was being manipulated by Sepiroth. Sepiroth is such a douche. Aries was beutiful & made me laugh and now shes dead. I feel like i wont evar laguh again. I wrote a song about this i call it "so many tears" this is how it goes.

Well, I don't know what Cloud would do if Cloud were Cloud after killing Aeris, but if I were Cloud, I'd just keep telling myself that Jenova took control of my body, so technically, I didn't kill her, and hence Jenova killed her. No change in story after this. If Cloud couldn't do this on his own, I'm sure his friends, especially Tifa, would have helped him through this until he believed Jenova was at fault anyway and not himself. Tifa loves him so much and would never leave him alone and never stop taking care of him, like she would stop him from trying to use his buster sword on himself. Once he gets his mind right, Cloud is ready to kick some Sephiroth butt. Well, his mind would be good enough until before the Lifestream.

2. Why would YOU be in control of Cloud at the time if it wasn't something HE had "Decided to do" When the JC make cloud give up the Materia you don't control him. Because he is not in his own mind. (Which is you)

3. How come you're all alright with Future's theroys about FFVIII but not Mine On FFVII?

He doesn't. He's talking to Sephiroth. Where are you even getting the idea that Aerith could control him?

As said, one has to do that so as to make the scene progress, and it's not like you really get a choice concerning what he does. Your button input simply reflects Cloud's attempt to resist Sephiroth's control.
