Ok- I've been playing FFXI now for nearly a year and I'd say I've made some pretty good progress. Im a level 61 red mage and im in a pretty large LS. I've got good friends, good gear and im so close to being able to do new things.

So why have I developed a phobic aversion to FFXI? I cant bring myself to join exp parties, even good ones seem ultimately dull. The prospect of standing around in Jeuno does nothing for me either. I tried taking up the zilart missions/ CoP missions but when your entire LS seems determined to only focus on Sky raids and HNMs its difficult to get support for even the most simple of tasks. Is this a sign that I simpley should stop playing? Has anyone else been through something similar?

I mean Sky and Dynamis give me something to look forward to but even sitting down for a four level crunch is discouraging. I mean if I go on Dynamis Im last in line for anything, ditto for Sky fights. So what do I do? Just sit around and level fourteen times and be really bored?

People have suggested I try a new job but the prospect of levelling through Valkurm Dunes is probably more depressing than the idea of joining an exp party with redmage.

Where has my love for FFXI gone?

Its called burnout, it happens to anyone in a game, if you play one game too long everything will become boring. For the longest time i grinded so i can get higher lvl alot of the times so i can help other people, and that left me grounded out. I also leveled my BLM sub from 31-41 and WAR from 27-34 in under a week of hardcore partying...and i didnt feel like playing after. However i took a break and did other things and when i came back i played some Ballista, did some help for people and exping now isnt as bad as it felt back then. Any game can burn you out, FFXI should not be your only source of entertainment too..theres other stuff to do along with FFXI(as well as real life), so take a break and come back. ^^

Valkurm. Ugh. I'm weary of lvling any other jobs because of that place, too. I really don't understand why everyone goes there to lvl now...? When I first started, all the first parties were in Tahrongi (fighting Dhamels), on to Shakrami Maze, and then to Korroloka Tunnel. It was much less stressful than Aggroville.

Whatever you dom don't delete your character saying that you're quiting and then come back a month later. lolol

Yeah it's happened to me. Actually right now I've been burned out for like a couple of weeks. Just because I get easily frustuated. But go and play a different game that doesn't require the aspetcs does. Like hot shots golf 4...or battlefront II or halo again.

Wow lol I quit for the same exact reasons you have right now lol.

Same here man when i first started we did the exact same thing but now everyone does goto valkurm. I think its a few elitest that tells the noobs to go there.

My advice to alll. Play Morrowind and you will know what a true RPG is.

Ever thought that the subjob quest is easier in terms of mob difficulty? Also its way closer to TWO nations instead of one, Windurst is way out of the way. >_>;

You can always go there for the subjob quest plus the one in Mhaura is easy as hell. Also windy ain';t out of hte way if your windurstians. I think their were just more players back then.

[!]why do you respond to my post on that instead of the first guy who said it?

yeah your a bastard lionx.[/!]

We don't say these things to other members. Please do not do so again.

yeah your a bastard lionx.

Killing a Bogy is a lot harder than killing a Ghoul for the subjob items. Same goes with killing a Dhalmel is harder than killing a Fly. It's just pretty much easier for everyone.

There's no 'elitests' going around saying Valkurm Dunes is the only place, hell they have better things to do with their time than to spread such nonesense.

Also, usualy people from Windurst went to Maze of Shakhrami. But now that's changed and it's just easier to find people in Valkurm.

And grow up, you don't need to call someone a bastard because they disagree with you.

I know exactly the feeling. Last year, I sat down and leveled like nuts, and in three or four months, I hit level a 60 Black Mage with all the AF. I was in a pretty small LS, but everyone was real close. It was great, but at that point, I lost a lot of my interest. With no real way to make money, I took up wood working, but that became boring and frustrating as the small amount of gil I already had diminished more and more. And leveling just became real dull and more of a chore than normal.

So, I stopped playing. I didn't want to lose all that work I put into my character, and I knew I'd eventually come back, so I alternated between paying for one month, not for 2 and a half. And just recently, about a year later, I've picked up where I left off.

I haven't played enough due to school, but I'm sure it'll be a little more refreshing than before.

EDIT: Heh, in rereading my post, I sound more like a sore loser who couldn't handle being poor. Though not having much gil may have factored in (And I will not ever buy gil) to my absence slightly, I believe it was more burning out. But, I'm not real interested in convincing anyone otherwise.

Yeah this happened to me too. Actually, I got grounded because I didn't clean my room, and by the time I was ungrounded, nothing seemed the same anymore. I actually took a 3 month long break...a lot of my friends were going crazy >.> When I came back...a lot had changed. My HUGE and AWESOME linkshell...had broken, and kind of branched off into a few smaller ones. Turns out the leader disappeared or quit, and the LS started fighting...some of my friends had quit, which gave me more determination to hang on to the ones who were still around. I don't know, I think it just brought be closer to the game and I realized how many friends I actually have on there, that I never would have known without this game. So now I'm back, Lvl 74 rdm (too lazy to get 42k for 75...lol) and I'm additcted to this game once again... Dynamis-Beacedine soon!

EDIT: I was wondering why everyone's posts said cry with mirth and merriment...what the heck... it changes l.o.l....thats just messed up...messed up XD haha

Correct. Beer and FFXI should be your only sources of entertainment.

Heh... ^.^ Kind of forgot Windy's out of the way for the other nations, so that does explain a lot of Valkurm's popularity. In any case, I can never get over how EMPTY Shakrami is these days. Hopefully the XBox release will bring back some of the chaos.
