Remember this movie, it was legendary, my favorite movie in particular, a great story of a man and his achievements in the great old America. Remeber bubba, bubba was great and Lt. Dan Lt. Dan was mean but he came around and he loved hookers. You can't forget "Life is like a box of chocolates" can you, a great movie that makes me weep, oh so beautiful, look he mooned the president.

I like Forest Gump but...I never understood why Jenny would get mad at Forest for him being protective over her.

Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.

I like that part where Lt. Dan tells them not to get killed and Forrest turns to Bubba and says" I hope I don't let that man down". :D :D :D

RUN FOREST RUN. :strut:
I never saw this movie until last November, and since then I've seen it twice, three times in about a week after I see it again in U.S. History.
I think it's a good movie, with some funny historical tie-ins (Watergate, :) symbol, etc.).
Also, I like the Weird Al song "Gump". :D

Jenny was self-destructive, and she saw herself as destroying Forest as well because she was a 'bad person' (in her own mind) and thus tried to keep innocent Forest as far away as possible.
I love this movie so much. Best Vietnam scene ever. I watch it pretty often, I should go get it on dvd.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Long live the Gump

I didn't like it that much, it didn't seem all that realistic. Do you really think a mentally ill person like him, would be able to accomplish all that he did, in real life? I gather not. It wasn't terrible or anything, but just not my cup of tea.

The point of the film and the book didn't lie in its realism. It's too early for me to think hard about this, so I'm just going to wait until someone else tells you why. xD

i think it was meant to show that anyone can achieve anything no matter what complications there are :choc:

The part that I really remember for some reason is when Forrest's friend falls out of his wheelchair (chasing a woman or something?) and oh it was sad. :( But nonetheless, a good movie.

It's pretty obvious it's not trying to be real man. I mean, he wipes mud off of his face with a T-shirt and leaves behind the :)

I dont know what the best experince was; watching this movie alone or with my family. I cried more when I was watching it alone, but it was great to cry with my family at the end. Ive got both books, I bought one and my nana bought me one, both different titles but both about Forrest, I'll have to dig them out.
Yeah very powerful, yet enjoyable movie. It was the first Tom Hanks one that I sat down and took notice of who he was. Plus Gary Sinse (sp) is excellent also. Love it when Gump shows his arse scar to the President ... It was the President wasnt it? I havent seen this film for awhile:D

we watched the National Celebrity part in american history today, through where he runs.
It's an awesome movie, full of references. I never understood the significance of the john lennon bit where he's on a talk show with Forrest, and Forrest is telling about the time in China before today. Thanks to Jebus, I noticed that he was repeating words that would go into his song Imagine;o
I wish I had an outfit like jenny wore in the capitol scenes ^_^

Oh I love love the Imagine part. And that dress Jenny wears is gorgeous. If I ever find one in my thrift store shopping I'll send it to you <3
The books were mentioned, and for the record they were Forrest Gump and Gump and Co. I read the first one, and I couldnt stand it. Just awful. If you think the movie is unbelievable (not that it's supposed to be realistic), try reading the book. Its utterly ridiculous.

Brilliant movie. Fantastic. Definitely one of the all-time greats that you simply have to watch.
Also, if anyone thought Tom Hanks was good in this movie, I would suggest they watch The Terminal, because these two movies are his greatest works as far as I'm concerned.

My favourite Tom Hanks movie: The Road to Perdition. NOW THAT'S AN AWESOME MOVIE! <3

Road to Perdition was a little dull i thought, good story though :choc:
For anyone who doesn't like this movie because it isn't realistic, that's just silly. Who goes to the movies to watch dull, every day, normal life play out? Not me.

DRILL SERGEANT
Gump! What's your sole purpose in
this Army?
FORREST
To do whatever you tell me, Drill
Sergeant!
DRILL SERGEANT
Godamnit, Gump! You're a goddamned
genius! That's the most outstanding
answer I've ever heard. You must
have a godamned I.Q. of a hundred
and sixty! You are godamned gifted,
Private Gump!
The Drill Sergeant moves down the line to the next man.
DRILL SERGEANT
Listen up, people...
FORREST (V.O.)
Now, for some reason, I fit in the
Army like one of them round pegs.
It's not really hard. You just make
your bed real neat and remember to
stand up straight.
DRILL SERGEANT
That is one very intelligent
individual! You lock your scuzzy
bodies up behind that private and do
exactly what he does and you will go
far in this man's army!
<3 Almost as good as full metal jacket - though more hearfelt and uplifting :)
Seriously, this is a very satirical peice wich is sadly often overlooked for its satiracle value.

I was kinda disappointed that about near the running part began, things started getting less and less realistic. Just nagging on my part, so meh. I just thought it would be better if it kept it's sense of being real, as far as movies go. :cat:
Still, a great film. :cat:
