I consider myself to be great as this game. My single player run has gone very smooth minus a few battles... Defeating shinryu before his initial attack, X-death and Neo X-death with a team of white mages with no additional abilities... and even defeating X-death and Neo X-death before either of them can attack.

But this is just insane o_0

Not only does this guy complete the entire game in just 3 hours and 26 minutes... he's only level 12 when he beats Neo X-death

I urge everyone to watch the final segment at least as it's very impressive.

Isn't there record of some Japanese kid doing it at Level 1?

that level 2 old + lvl5 death is ingenius! wont use it because its cheap and i barely ever use Blue mages. ive done some pretty good job combos but ive never heard of that one (hint: when you get the beseker job, give him the double hand ability. i used this on a second playthrough and near the start of the game it did more damage to ifrit than a level 2 ice spell did.)

That's impossible. Bartz is forced to fight some fixed battles at the start which puts him on level 2, and Faris joins the party on level 3. I heard the record was level 9

I think the item combo his chemist uses is possibley a level increasing attack...

In the battle with Halcyanos he using it to significantly raise faris's attack which made me think it was aimed at increasing physical strength. But in the final battle with Neo X-death he again uses it on Faris but Faris then uses $toss which does 9999 damage. I'm pretty sure $toss does damage based on your level.

Plus Dark shock. Using Dark shock + level 5 Doom is a handy trick on quite a few bosses (Atamos, Ramuh and Gilgamesh at least)

For the record Dragon Force (Potion/Hi-Potion + Dragon Fang) adds 20 Levels to a character for the purposes of damage calculations. After five applications even a Level 1 character can be considered a Level 99 character. With the warrior character as chosen in the Job section, the multiplier would be 40. Which means rather high damage as demostrated. The other reason for using it is that it increases the chances of a status being inflicted onto an enemy. It's all numbers really, so it's a case of prepping beforehand with the relevant blue magic spells and knowledge of monster levels. As we see, even Ex-Death is susceptable.
