i'm starting this game again and truth is i never really mastered this one, so i want ur opinions on some things:

1. Who is the best party? taking into account the only that defines chars apart at the end of the game i thought zell and irvine (for most attacks) but i've heard rinoa's angel wing is good if u only give her awesome magic (ultima, comet, flare, curaga, aura, etc).

2. What is the best magic to junction to each statistic? obviously having 99 mkaes this better, but ther r some that do more for each stat right? (like full-life is the best for hp, while ultima is the best for strength) does anyone know which the best r or wer i can find a list? (p.s i hav tried gamefaqs already, but to no avail)

also i want to share an experience i had. i was doing the dollet mission and riunning from the machine Biggs sets on u, wen selphie got her limit in battle. they wer all pretty weak so i though i'd cure em all before i ran. then as i was cycling through something awesome happened. i got ultima 2 times, in the dollet mission XD i cast, i pwned, i got bonus points :D

Generally Squall, Zell and Irvine deal the most damage with their limit breaks, but if you give Rinoa only Meteor magic, she'll only be able to use that when she's in her Angel Wing state. Seeing as Angel Wing multiplies Magic damage by five, the result is quite powerful.

You can have 100 of each item/magic in this game, not 99 as before.

The best setup I can think of right now is below. I can give you more info later when I'm at home.

HP: Full-Life/Holy
Str: Meteor
Vit: Meltdown
Mag: Holy/Anything
Spr: Reflect/Full-Life
Spd: Triple
Eva: Tornado
Hit: Double
Luck: Aura

Elem-Atk: Varies
Elem-Defx4: Life, Protect, Shell, Flare

ST-Atk: Varies
ST-Defx4: Pain, Confuse, Berserk, Break/Death/Sleep

You can put Ultima on anything that is lacking, but don't use it for Elem-Def. It's wasted there since the damage you'll be absorbing will be minimal if your Spr is half decent.

I like having Ultima on Elem-def. For my last game, I had 100 Ultimas, 100 Lifes, 100 Full-lifes and 100 Shells on each characters Elem-def, which rendered me invincible to anything but status effects and non-elemental damage, which I pretty much covered with Esuna, Pain, Reflect and a varying fourth, depending on situation, junctioned to ST-def, and good junctions to HP/Vit/Eva etc. Each to their own though, right?

1. Who is the best party?
2. What is the best magic to junction to each statistic?

1. IMO Squall, Zell and Quistis
2. If you use your stat bonuses then you can get away with junctioning any half decent magic and still get max stats
3. Good for you :)

Apparently you can get 50AP from this battle. I would appreciate it if someone could explain how this works. On several occasions I've taken the Black Widow down till it started repairing itself but wasn't awarded any AP.

Well party wise i try and keep evryones levels up by taking it turns for misions or taking them training so when the teams split up, the two teams both have a chance. Another tip is too draw loads and loads of magic and take your time with it becuase if you rush parts it will become difficult and your seed rank will decrease in places.

You should really keep your levels as low as possible (use Card to defeat the enemy) and raise your stats with magic refined from cards. Sure, it may take longer, but you'll find your characters are much more developed than the enemies, hence the battles will be very easy.

thats taking the easy way out, play the naive way and you'll see how hard Omega is at lv 100

Omega is at Lv100 regardless of your character's levels, so taking him on at low levels is harder.

Here's some tips.
1. Learn all of the junction and refining abilities first
2. Refine a lot of stuff. Cards too.
3. When you get further in the game (like the third disc) go to the island closest to heaven/hell for good draw points. The fill up very fast.
4. Pretty much everyone has an awesome limit. Zell's duel is the most handy at this point of the game. Irvine's shot is useless if you don't have good ammo (really fun if you have a turbo controller). Angelo's reverse, wishing star, and invincible moon are very helpful. Lionheart is just awesome of course.
5. DO NOT RELY ON GFs!!!

Omega's not the only one. The monster's level is 80~120% of the average level of all three characters in your party.

Exceptions to the rule are Omega Weapon and the enemies on the Island Closest To Heaven/Hell (all Lv100) and the enemies in the Lunatic Pandora (all Lv1). You also need to take into account the level caps of some enemies. For instance, Ifrit can never be higher than Lv6 and Ultimecia can never be above Lv65.

Remember to draw from every boss. Nothing more annoying than realizing you missed a GF a few hours ago.

My best party was always: Squall, Rinoa and Zell. But that's because I favoured them in the game. Your best party could be totally different, dpending on how you decide to junction magic and GF's to your characters and all that.

The best party is characters you love to play. I mean, eventually they can all attack about the same.

Me too ;)
For the last battle, if Quistis, Irvine and Selphie are the chosen one, I would just let them reach the limit break and keep on firing until dead. :P (Quistis/Selphie/Irvine fans dont punch on me x_x.)
Then they will be absorbed by the time, and now its time for Squall, Rinoa and Zell to get revenge!

not including limits, squall is the best because of his extra damage attacks for his gunblade. his lionheart limit is also probly the most powerful. zells good because his limit can get over 30 hits and rinoas good because of invincible moon, angel wing and shooting star. my biggest hint is refine nearly everything. its so easy to get powerful spells like demi and quake and level 3 spells like firaga before the end of disk 2. you just need the right items. i refine nearly all of my cards (even the rare ones.) and it makes the game so much easier.

Rinoa is very useful because of Angelo, who will randomly come revive characters, or heal characters; this is something you don't get with any other character. (note that she has the second highest amount of weapon upgrades)

Selphie has her special magic (Full Cure, Wall, Rapture, The End) some of which is so powerful that some will consider it cheating, as The End will kill almost anything, including most bosses, in one cast (instantly).
Also, she can hit Cactuars without needing to juction to hit% (with Strange Vision)

Quistis stands out because of her Blue Magic which can do anything, other than kill 'harder' bosses instantly; her Shockwave Pulsar can do up to around 30 000 damage (breaking damage limit)

The rest are damage dealers, of which squall can use the trigger, and has the stronger weapons/limit breaks.

Junctioning tips: 100 ultimas, full lifes, lifes, and shells make you absorb 90% of elemental damage.
also use the bonus abilities and PLAY CARDS (you can get the punishment before Ifrit this way, also you can have magic like tornado, blizaga, at that point just from cards)

About the XATM-092:
You can learn Siren's Mag-bonus ability dight after getting her, just make sure you can do about 4-5000 damage in about 30 seconds, and you'll easilly be able to "defeat" the robot, get it into reparing mode, run away, repeat; the more you can do this within 27 minutes or so (you'll the rest to get back to the ship) the more AP you get (50 each time)

And when you're far enough, yes Devour everything that does NOT kill/hurt you when you do so.

Have fun with this, it takes time (10 hours of playing cards is decent before the fire cavern)
You know how to get LionHeart before galbadia garden? It's time consuming and you have to level a bit early on.

If you're patient, don't level up until disc 3. And once you get Ragnarok, go get Jumbo Cactar and Bahamut ASAP. Then train AP in cactur island and get all the stat bonus for each GF, which will be Ifirt(Str Bonus), Brothers(Hp Bonus), Carbuncle(Vit Bonus), Siren(Mag Bonus) and Levi(Spr Bonus). If you have a roesetta stone, all the better. 2 different character will have 4 bonus on their ability. kill off one of your character so he/she don't level up, and just level the other 2 till 100.(Quistis and Squall is the best option cause of Quistis Degenerator.) Then once quistis and squall is 100, head off to Island closest to hell and heaven and just keep training there. If you didn't train alot in disc 1 and 2, you'll probably be able to get 70~80 bonus stat! Your stat will be super high even without the best juctions.

I wanted to play like this, but unfortunately I screwed up in the second disc(kept training my char to be equal to squall) and didn't manage to get more than my targeted 70bonus at level 100.

And I always like to draw very early in the game. I set my the controls to "memory" and I just place something on button till my char draws 100 of the selected magic. It's a good habit, though very time consuming.

And remember to mug the bosses! They have super rare items, like Spd-J, Luck-J, etc, all that you can't buy from your favourite esther pet store.

ALSO! Remember to get the rosetta stone in the prison against one of the card players(don't know which level), and the one at Esther.(Cheryl's shop. Keep visiting. You don't have to exit and re-visit. I had to visit like 20times before they gave me a rosetta stone.)

ONE MORE THING. When getting eden, it'll be wise to stock up 100 curse spike when going to find Ultima Weapon. That way, you can get a dark matter for quistis to learn one of the best Blue Magic, or you can refine it to get another rosetta stone. Yes, I'm obsessed over rosetta stone.

ONE MORE THING. Read the card game walkthrough on gamefaq.com. Learn how to abolish stupid rules like Random, Plus, Same, Element, etc. Don't bother to play with card queen or do queen of cards quest. BUT BUT BUT PLEASE REMEMBER to play against the CC members in disc three. You don't want to miss them out. They'll help you alot in disc four. Why? Cause Diamond(the 2 girls), actually have every card you get doing queens of card quest.(doomtrain, irvine, chubby choco, kiros). If you didn't abolish the rules earlier in the game, you're in for a tough battle. It took me 2hours to get all the 4 cards.

ONE MORE THING. If you haven't noticed this, if you mod your cards rare cards, like ifrit, squall, edea, etc, you'll be able to win them back from CC members in the ragnarok(ALL THE MORE YOU SHOULD WIN THEM AT DISC 3). Inside the Ragnarok Hanger, there's a save point and a guy from CC. Mod your card there and then challange him, and win it back. You can do this as many time as you like.

ONE MORE THING. Try not to fight Ultima Weapon until you modded some Gilgamesh cards. I modded 2 Gilgamesh to get 20Holy wars. Before fighting Ultima, be sure to have Squall(BETTER IF HE HAVE LIONHEART) in yellow blood. Immediately at the start of fight, use a Holy War. Don't start killing Ultima, this is one of your best chance(aside from omega) to get 100 ultima for 3 characters, and another 100Ultima stones if you don't mug Ultima Weapon. Once you've drawn enough Ultima, have squall finish him off with constant limit breaks. :)

ONE MORE THING. Remember to fight Elnoyle at Esther during the invasion or something. Walk around and find a weird guy sitting in the middle of the road. Speak to him and you'll find yourself battling an Elnoyle. Defeat it, go to the next screen, and come back to battle it again. This is the best time to stock up on your energy crystals(which can also be refined into Ultimas!) I had so much trouble getting Crystals in disc 4 I had to restart back from disc 3(I spent 8 getting eden, stocking ultimas, getting thornberry and odin(I perfered him to gilgamesh) and leveling up my chars). You don't want to try that.

ONE MORE THING. Erm....I think that's all I have in mind right now actually. I will tell you more if it pops into my head. I'm quite a hardcore FF8 player, so I want perfect for most stuff. So if you're looking to rush through the game, 80% of what I said is useless.

Well, hope that helped you a little. My brain's kind of dead to think properly. :|

IMO, Squall, Zell, and Rinoa make up the best party. But thats just me. I didn't bother leveling up Irvine, Selphie or Quistist(or however you spell her name), they were still at their starting levels.

You should Junction 100 Deaths to your Stat-Atk or Elem-Atk(forgot which one). That way you can defeat some enemies quicker.:D

Yeah make sure you have zell in your party because every turn in his "Dual" will alternate between 'right-left' and 'O-X'
