It's tied for my second favorite game ever with FFIX. Give it a try, you will no doubt love it and then will gain a better understanding of all the craze surrounding the game and the compilation of Final Fantasy VII. Basically, FFVII kicks ass, and so does Advent Children! :-p

But serisouly, get it and play it, if nothing else to see what all the hype is about, like other said. If you don't mind the older graphics and such, you should really enjoy the story, battle system, materia system, and the characters.

It's highly overhyped, but not a bad game at all. Just don't start it expecting it to be the best game ever. Just think of it as a regular, ordinary RPG game, then make an opinion of your own, without having fanboy bias ruining it for you.
I presonally think it's (was, starting to get tired of it now, it's old, y'know) very good.

you'd have to make sure you start FF7 while you have a lot of time on your hands, its not really the sorta game you can just pick up, play for 5 mins and then switch off. but trust me, once you get to the good parts you'll find it almost impossible to do that anyway :p

It's not the greatest game out there (it has it's flaws), but it's definately in the top 5 greatest rpg's out there. So yes, I recommend playing it.
