View Full Version : The Light Saber vs The One Ring
The Devil Man

Yeah, so like, your Good Friend Devil Man was wondering...
If you were in an Inter-Galactic Battle against Orcs and Storm Troopers, which weapon would be a lot more effective?
Would it be The Light Saber, The Noble Weapon of the Jedi Knight, or The One Ring, Created by The Dark Lord Sauron in the Fiery Chasms of Mount Doom?
Consider their advantages. The Light Saber looks cool and makes great noises and can, like, slash through anything. But The One Ring can make you invisible, so you can sneak behind your enemy and bop him on the head. :smash:
I think I'd choose The One Ring :holmes:
But what would YOU choose?

awww, i hate you dude!!!!
hmmm, although i love the shire and all that bla de bla de bla, i reckon that the lightsabers would win, cut through the ring completely, maybe

If I were Sauron then definitely The One Ring.
Otherwise, I'd have to go with the Lightsaber. Invisibility is awesome, but The One Ring doesn't make you invincible, and wearing it for too long screws you over anyway with both mental anguish and the likelihood that Sauron's minions will find you and end the war on behalf of the Jedi by slaughtering you. ;)

I'd choose the lightsaber as well. The One Ring comes with all kinds of baggage that I wouldn't want to bother with.
I'd showboat and cut large chunks of meat with the lightsaber and make millions as a famous butcher.
The One Ring would just screw me up.

Lightsaber, provided it came with proper training.
Otherwise, I would just end up cutting my own arm off.

Lightsaber, easy. I can handle an sword quite well, so the transition shouldn't be too hard.
Also, do I smell a hint of Clerks 2 in here?

I'd use the ring. But I'd take it go to a field a bop all the mice on thier heads.:smash:

If I had the ring, I could sneak into places and see things that are too vulgar to be allowed to be posted in this forum! :radred: :evilking:
The war could wait!

Probably lightsabers, because George Lucas went ahead and gave those things "infinite power". Yes, they have an infinite power supply inside the handle. With an infinite amount of power, nothing can block it, except another object that has infinite power. Like another lightsaber. Lucas sucks :p.

Hmm. Do you think that the lightsaber would be able to melt the one ring? I forget if mt. doom was special besides being a volcano, so I dunno :O

The ring can do much more than turn the wearer invisible. It certainly is more powerfull than a lightsaber.

I officially hate this brain bug. When you pick up a baseball bat, do you accidentally whap yourself with it? HELL no! Swords are even easier to swing than a baseball bat, and the gorram lightsabers most of all.

Quote me this, please. Every source I've seen (And I is a big ole warsie), says they have a standard power source for the setting, not 'teh infinat power'

No, Sauron and the ring are powerful. The ring and random shmuck is ring of invisibility.
And lightsaber. Then I'd saber up the ring. Lightsabers carve up military bulkheads like no one's business. The one ring is toast.

The ring is cursed, I'd take the saber

I'd say being the way of the Jedi is much more beneficial than being invisible.
But there's a 50/50 chance of ending up on either dark sides so...meh.
I went with lightsaber because I'm quite good with swords. =)

Maybe dual-weild light sabers! I'd look badass.

I am Sauron, and the ring will give me infinite power. So all of you with your fruity colored sabers can fuck off.

Double ended light saber because I like the staffs and their fighting techniques. The one ring sucked.

Lightsaber. As appealing as being corrupted and turned into a mindless puppet of Sauron is to me, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pass.

Violet lightsabers make me think of violet condoms...
And yes I would take the lightsaber. The One Ring has too many detrimental aspects associated with it, including, but not limited to:
Insanity
Exile
Wasting
Hunted by Nazgul, crazed people, etc...
The only thing bad about a lightsaber is that you run an extreme risk of chopping your arms, legs, anything, off. But that's easily fixed by not being a dolt.

If I was given a choice, I'd rather choose quite a cool looking saber than a cursed ring. I don't know which weapon would benefit the Orc and Stormtrooper armies better, though.

Lightsabres. I mean come on. Those freakin' hobbit movies were boring as hell. All it was, was a bunch of people walking, three movies of people walking to a freakin' volcano.

The e-11, actually. Range is better than melee, especially if you aren't a force user.
And before anyone asks, Sauron's army gets its collective butt vaporized. By a BDZ if the Emperor commands.

omg a chance to have a super-geek moment!!
i'm pretty sure the saber couldn't hurt the one ring, since it's a lazer sword...mount doom is the "only place the ring can be destroyed", the ring is a relic created by a god-like being, so the escape clause is very specific....
unless maybe the focus crystal of the lightsaber blade was taken from mount doom...hmmm....
ps i picked the saber...it makes a cooler sound than the ring.

Actually, it's "the fires of mount doom are the only thing hot enough to destroy the one ring", and If lightsabers can't do it, some other beam weapon from SW can.

Aboard the Millennium Falcon:
Luke: What's going on?
Han: Our position is correct, but no Middle Earth.
Luke: What do you mean? Where is it?
Han: That's what I'm trying to tell you, kid, it ain't there. It's been totally blown away.
Luke: What? How?!
Obi-Wan: Destroyed, by the Empire.
Han: The entire star fleet couldn't destroy the whole planet. It'd take a thousand ships with more firepower than I've...
Luke: What's that?!
Han: It's a ring. It must have survived the explosion.
Obi-Wan: No, it's THE Ring.
Han: Well it won't be around long enough to bother us.
Obi-Wan: It's no use. You might as well let it go, it can't be destroyed except by being cast into the fire's of Mount Doom.
Luke: Mount Doom?!
Han: I've flown from one end of the galaxy to the other but I've never heard of Mount Doom. And there's certainly no ring that's going to control my destiny.
Obi-Wan gives sly, ironic, smile.

Ender: Haha. I wonder how they're going to toss the Ring to the fires of Mt. Doom with the whole planet destroyed, and most likely Mt. Doom too. In that case, a lightsaber or some other weapon had better be able to cut through the Ring.

Can this even be debated? A lightsaber is freaking awesome and a sword made of laser! The onr ring....makes you invisible and attracts ring wraiths to you.....I think it's clear here that a sword made of laser qill beat an invisible, undead attracting ring any day.

1e38Mj (or thereabouts) is certainly hotter than Mt. Doom.
It wouldn't even take the Superlaser to do it. a BDZ operation alone not only makes the ring, but the entire planet, a non issue. Superlaser was built to take care of sheilded planets, that could shrug off an 'ordinary' BDZ.
Ender: Haha. I wonder how they're going to toss the Ring to the fires of Mt. Doom with the whole planet destroyed, and most likely Mt. Doom too. In that case, a lightsaber or some other weapon had better be able to cut through the Ring.
Han:Say, Obi, how's tossing it into a sun grab you?
Obi (after some thought):Yeah, that'll do.
