I heard you met Gabby. Small world, eh?
No Kidd Inn, because... I mean, come on! No Kidd Inn. xD It's right in the centre. We're definitely doing a boat tour and I really want to do Moon Hill. How long does it take to climb it?
Where are you staying? Definitely take the pontoon boat tour of the river. If you're feeling adventurous and the weather is nice, check with your hostel for different kinds of bike tours you can go on. I went to the mud cave which was pretty sweet, but it was straight up like 3 hrs of biking each way. Slightly closer is moon hill which is really quite a sight, but unfortunately I got there too late in the day to climb it before nightfall. Other than that I basically just chilled on the hostel's rooftop, drank beers, and sat in awe of the scenery around me. There are good little cafes everywhere so you can enjoy good imported coffee while you have the chance. You'll probably also just meet a lot of like-minded travelers who want to do things in the day and get drunk at night.
Recommendations for things to do?
I'll be in Yangshuo in two days. AWESOME.
Oh right, that's pretty interesting! What age groups/levels do you teach? I'm working for a private institution (not really a school, other than that we teach), and our curriculum is really good. I've got absolute freedom in how to teach everything, but it's very structured in what I'm teaching.
And when you do start up the blog, hit me with the link!
We don't use any textbooks in my class. The English department gives me a rough outline of what the kids are learning in their other English classes, but I don't have to follow it if I don't need to. I basically just teach whatever I feel like.
Oh man, majiang is the best! You should definitely try to play it. I have a blog, but I haven't started it yet. Not had the time mostly, and when I have had the time, I've not had the motivation, haha. I started work proper on Wednesday, though! On Saturday, I'll be teaching a reading and writing group, as well as a TOEFL group. smurfing ace. Which textbooks does you school use? We use Hip Hip Hooray and Side by Side. Damn good books, those. Ah, I know! I realised immediately afterwards, haha. Best thing is, I was chatting to a newer teacher about the uses of ma (to demonstrate the tones), and I explicitly said that it's used for questions. xD
